Sceptics, look away: a mostly renewable electricity grid is highly feasible::There's a firm belief among some that we must have 24x7 baseload energy generators in our grid - but do we? Simulations tell a new story.

in Australia, a country known for it's sunshine that also has plenty of wind and capacity for hydro power, while still requiring gas/diesel backing of 1/3 of total generation capacity.

Sure, bc its the easiest path. But some gas for peak hours is totally fine. The problem is in countries like the US or Germany where over 50% of the electricity comes from fossil fuels. At least that should be the goal on the short term
