To be fair, that only mostly works. You do sometimes still need to reboot even with that, but most of the time yeah, it works fine without rebooting.

You mean proprietary bullshit from Oracle? Lol, but that's not a Linux feature.
Its not even catching up. You have to reboot "every few months". I haven't rebooted my arch install since it died in my backpack last December.
Hey, it's been a really long time since I had to reboot windows to change my IP. /s
