Hi,

My mother-in-law has a decent amount of cash in her house, mostly in 1000 DKK bills.

She is so afraid to take it to the bank because she doesn't know what to say about where she got it. She has just been saving up for years, and there's no illegal way she obtained it.

If we would like to exchange it for Euros or another currency, what is the best way to do that? Can I just walk into a currency kiosk or a bank and exchange 20k or 30k DKK, or is there a limit? Do exchange kiosks accept 1000 DKK bills?

If its below 50.000 kr, I would suggest taking them to the bank. It should not be a problem if its not a regular occurrence.

The money exchange places will also require identification, the same way the bank will.

She can also spend quite a bit of it during the next years time to reduce the sum.
