And as a bonus, it isn't run by tankies!
What's a tanky??
People who unironically support authoritarian communism - North Korea, China, the USSR, etc.
Here's a nice thread
What I really cannot get my head around is that they seem to put 2023 China and Russia on that list. Russia is a straight up Christo-fascist state, it's as far as is possible to go from a communist state. But I guess they're in it for the authoritarianism rather than for the political ideology.
Because Tankies are no better than conservative reactionaries - they don't have any real ideology besides being against whatever the West supports.
Ew ok that's good to know.
Yeesh
So I'm confused. Some Lemmy.ml users are upset because of what? That the Lemmy software is written by people in China? Or that the Lemmy.ml mods are pro-China? Or what? Is this a topic for the explainlikeimfive sublem (community)?
Lemmy.ml is the main lemmy instance, run by the lemmy developers. Lemmy developers happen to also be tankies, who deny genocides/atrocities committed by communist states and support authoritarian communism.
Thanks
Could I have a source? The article merely said the devs declined deleting it as it didn't break any rules. The same shit exists on reddit too (r/sino), but they haven't banned it. Do you offer them the same accusation?
i haven't looked into it. the avatars for the devs on github are pictures of castro. for all i know its a bad joke thou
Should I still use lemmy.ml? I've just subscribe lemmy.world :/
Nah. Thereβs no need. I deleted my account there.
