I don't think Trump realizes Ukraine will go it alone if they have to. Trump has never sacrificed anything in his life.

Rules:
-
Rule 1: posts have the following requirements:
- Post news articles only
- Video links are NOT articles and will be removed.
- Title must match the article headline
- Not United States Internal News
- Recent (Past 30 Days)
- Screenshots/links to other social media sites (Twitter/X/Facebook/Youtube/reddit, etc.) are explicitly forbidden, as are link shorteners.
-
Rule 2: Do not copy the entire article into your post. The key points in 1-2 paragraphs is allowed (even encouraged!), but large segments of articles posted in the body will result in the post being removed. If you have to stop and think "Is this fair use?", it probably isn't. Archive links, especially the ones created on link submission, are absolutely allowed but those that avoid paywalls are not.
-
Rule 3: Opinions articles, or Articles based on misinformation/propaganda may be removed. Sources that have a Low or Very Low factual reporting rating or MBFC Credibility Rating may be removed.
-
Rule 4: Posts or comments that are homophobic, transphobic, racist, sexist, anti-religious, or ableist will be removed. “Ironic” prejudice is just prejudiced.
-
Posts and comments must abide by the lemmy.world terms of service UPDATED AS OF 10/19
-
Rule 5: Keep it civil. It's OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It's NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
-
Rule 6: Memes, spam, other low effort posting, reposts, misinformation, advocating violence, off-topic, trolling, offensive, regarding the moderators or meta in content may be removed at any time.
-
Rule 7: We didn't USED to need a rule about how many posts one could make in a day, then someone posted NINETEEN articles in a single day. Not comments, FULL ARTICLES. If you're posting more than say, 10 or so, consider going outside and touching grass. We reserve the right to limit over-posting so a single user does not dominate the front page.
We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.
All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

I have a friend who is from a different former Soviet nation. And acording to him most people would rather die than join back up with Russia.
Trump posted a link to an Associated Press story outlining Zelenskyy’s comments and said: “This is the worst statement that could have been made by Zelenskyy, and America will not put up with it for much longer!
Oh look, he insinuated the quiet part out loud.
His one-sided deal and shitshow of meeting was meant to anger Zelenskyy so they could create some pretense for siding against Ukraine. Since that failed, he's just going to pivot to this as justification for joining the war on Daddy Vladdy's side.
Putin has ordered me to stop the war before he runs out of money! And this insolent Ukrainian simply does not want to surrender his country when I tell him to!
Trump: The war will end either very quickly or maybe never
Zelensky: Yes the end of the war may be very far away
Trump: The fuck did you just say?
Weird, what happened to ending the war within one day?
You watched that plan fall on its face the other day. I'm reasonably certain that was his plan from the start, just bully Zelenskyy until he gave in.
At this point it's Putin (through Trump) who seems desperate to end the war. While I don't want to see more Ukrainians dying, agreeing to a truce now seems like a bad idea.
Russia is financially screwed. The oil and gas industry there is crippled. Minimal funds are entering the country and the war machine has forced manufacturing companies to make weapons with bank loans they didn't want to take and the banks didn't want to make.
The government is broke. The banks are broke. Industry is broke. All to feed the military. This is very much a war of attrition but it money not troops.
Which is why the puppet master is having his marionette lift US sanctions on Russia.
On the other hand, it would be very funny if someone decided to bank on Russia's weakness after 3 years of war and start a ~~full scale invasion~~ special military operation to strengthen the border security.

What was Trump's record with negotiating peace last time?
I recall him capitulating in Afghanistan. Was he successful anywhere else? He appears to like to rant and rave, and wants to throw his weight around, but he is clearly an exploitable, weak leader.
Trump signed the deal and set the deadlines for troop withdrawal. Biden was president for the completion of the pullout. By then it was already apparent the Taliban would takeover once the US military was gone.
In my opinion Biden was damned if he did and damned if he didn't. Republicans would say he sabatoged Trumps peace deal if he sent the troops back and cried anyways when the obvious happened as troops were withdrawn.
Trump just wanted to use ending the war as a campaign talking point. He didn't care if it worked or not. The fact it didnt and Biden got the shit sandwich was an unintended bonus.
As far as Trumps history with deal making the LA Times goes over some and has link to the SEC document that lists Trumps failed businesses.
The ego of Autocrat Kompromat Trump literally has no borders, not even national ones ^^
Oh look, the giant orange manbaby is throwing a temper tantrum again and taking everyone with him because nobody ever said "no" to him ever before
