/c/TenFoward: Your home-away-from-home for all things Star Trek!

Re-route power to the shields, emit a tachyon pulse through the deflector, and post all the nonsense you want. Within reason of course.

~ 1. No bigotry. This is a Star Trek community. Remember that diversity and coexistence are Star Trek values. Any post/comments that are racist, anti-LGBT, or generally "othering" of a group will result in removal/ban.

~ 2. Keep it civil. Disagreements will happen both on lore and preferences. That's okay! Just don't let it make you forget that the person you are talking to is also a person.

~ 3. Use spoiler tags. This applies to any episodes that have dropped within 3 months prior of your posting. After that it's free game.

~ 4. Keep it Trek related. This one is kind of a gimme but keep as on topic as possible.

~ 5. Keep posts to a limit. We all love Star Trek stuff but 3-4 posts in an hour is plenty enough.

~ 6. Try to not repost. Mistakes happen, we get it! But try to not repost anything from within the past 1-2 months.

~ 7. No General AI Art. Posts of simple AI art do not 'inspire jamaharon'

~ 8. No Political Upheaval. Political commentary is allowed, but please keep discussions civil. Read here for our community's expectations.

Fun will now commence.

On a serious note LLMs were born for this job. You can create large amounts of completely BS but legit sounding and unique submissions which are very difficult to filter out unlike a copy pasta.

[–] Gullible@sh.itjust.works 53 points 4 days ago (3 children)

Both serve their uses. Send bee movie scripts to make them believe they’re filtering out all the nonsense, while keeping the quiet nonsense flowing.

[–] rockerface@lemm.ee 31 points 4 days ago

make them beelive they're filtering out all the nonsense

FTFY

[–] edgemaster72@lemmy.world 18 points 4 days ago

Bee movie script but every time there's a bee pun or the word bee, insert a 100 page AI sloppypasta

Jokes on you, the inbox just auto-deletes everything.

[–] Stampela@startrek.website 25 points 4 days ago

In a totally unrelated note, https://msty.app/ is extremely easy to use and runs the LLM locally. Good choices are Llama 3.2; Granite; Deepseek r1; Dolphin 3… can run on Nvidia, Apple and cpu. They say AMD too and know how to since November but it’s not working. Not as friendly but https://lmstudio.ai/ runs on just about any hardware.

[–] nova_ad_vitum@lemmy.ca 7 points 3 days ago

Makes sense since they'll use LLMs to sort through it. Just bots talking to bots using electrical power for no human benefit whatsoever.

long live the true king

[–] MojoMcJojo@lemmy.world 17 points 4 days ago (2 children)

Don't do that to EndDEI.ed.gov Mother's of Liberty put a lot of work into getting that site put up so you could exercise your civic duty to report teachers..

"The U.S. Department of Education is committed to ensuring all students have access to meaningful learning free of divisive ideologies and indoctrination. This submission form is an outlet for students, parents, teachers, and the broader community to report illegal discriminatory practices at institutions of learning. The Department of Education will utilize community submissions to identify potential areas for investigation."

It even allows you to upload 10mb of evidence.

Just be careful and hide because willingly misusing a federal govt computer system can get you in actual trouble if they wanted to go after folks.

So, tor.

[–] Gradually_Adjusting@lemmy.world 6 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I hear tor has backdoors. You've got to go deeper than that to beat the panopticon.

[–] prettybunnys@sh.itjust.works 9 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Tor has always had known vulnerabilities to nation state level actors, unfortunately.

You can add a VPN to decide which nation state you’re going up against if you’d like, but at that point I bet you’re still not gonna win.

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 3 points 3 days ago (1 children)

i've always kind of wondered how many layers of vpn it would take for the government to say "oh fuck this i want some cheese instead" kind of like those phone tracing scenes in old shows.

Honestly no idea, mull will just have to suffice in my case

[–] spacemanspiffy@lemmy.world 6 points 3 days ago

Wait so can I just upload zip bombs or...?

[–] Paid_in_cheese@lemmings.world 10 points 3 days ago

My time has come.

Screenshot from Lower Decks season 1 episode 2 "Envoys". Commander Jack Ransom tells Ensign Samanthan Rutherford "FYI, in situations like that, try employing the Janeway Protocol

Oh Kathrine... show some class.

Or just 1984. Probably rather on the nose but since they won't get it anyway does it really matter

The part that saved that book for me? The part that I almost missed when I had to read it?

...the newspeak appendix?

Is in past tense.

'Newspeak Was.'

What happened? What did I miss?

I can't wait!

Edit: I mean I would rather not have to do this, but at least I can help make a fascist tool worthless.

[–] wildcardology@lemmy.world 11 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago) (2 children)

Can you give me some context on the bee movie script thing? I've seen this several times now.

[–] T156@lemmy.world 15 points 4 days ago

I think it's just an easily obtained large amount of reasonable text that is easy to spam.

People did it using the Shrek script, and now they're onto the Bee Movie.

[–] morphballganon@mtgzone.com 13 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Some bullshit agency wants people to snitch on each other? They get the Bee Movie script.

I don't know how it started but it's a meme now.

[–] wildcardology@lemmy.world 3 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I thought there was some significance in the bee movie script, so it's just like the Rick roll.

[–] echodot@feddit.uk 6 points 3 days ago

I think it's literally just that the entire script of the movie is online for some reason, and so it's an easy way to get a very very large amount of text that isn't just made up. Another option is the transcript of the Apollo moon landings.

Realistically it's easy to search and filter out so probably not a great idea, the AI nonsense option is a much better idea.
