It's not even close to rock or bottom. It's still overvalued by a factor of 100x. It's still the biggest pump on the planet, don't fool yourself.

Down 30% for the year, but up 47% from where it was a year ago and 600% of where it was five years ago.

How that happened in the first place is anybody's guess, but here we are.

Still, 30% in three months is not happy times, even if it's a long way down to reasonable, let alone rock bottom.

It's also, because the self-indulgence is starting to rub me the wrong way, entirely unrelated to any online organization. This started a while ago fairly spontaneously and I expect it will keep going the same way. I respect anybody wanting to decouple from a hostile regime, but reining in the US or even winning a trade war aren't going to happen in social media.

It's a cult. Always has been.

On how did it balloon so high, check this thread: https://lemm.ee/comment/18679286

Idk if I'm just Lemmy-ing wrong but that link doesn't produce a comment thread for me. It's a single comment (post?) by SLVRDRGN that doesn't mention Tesla.

Tesla's stock history, for reference. I'm not an economist or finance bro, so I'm not sure how stock splits factor into a graph like this, but for the record, Tesla had a 5:1 split in 2020 and a 3:1 split in 2022.

[–] banghida@lemm.ee 2 points 1 day ago

Splits are factored in that chart.

The stock is still higher than it was during Oct 22 - Oct 24. not rock bottom by a long shot. It should be at rock bottom, but at this point it isn't.

I'm curious in what way you're actually boycotting though. don't get me wrong fuck Tesla and fuck Musk but, I mean all you can do is NOT but one of their cars, which if you weren't anyway are you really boycotting?

[–] gon@lemm.ee 7 points 2 days ago

Well, if you promote alternatives, I guess that counts. Convince people to choose something else.

Also, Tesla is Musk, so it's not just about Tesla, but also about Twitter, for example.

You don't buy subscriptions to media that showcase the products, you divest from any funds that buy or hold the company stocks, you suggest and debate the better alternatives. Tesla and it's Nazi CEO are more of a brand than a car company and leader.

I belive after the sales went back for about 50% in Europe, it's our American cousins giving Tesla the rest. Protests all over the place.

[–] thezeesystem@lemmy.blahaj.zone 8 points 2 days ago (1 children)

American here. We pretty much made all Teslas affiliated with Nazis so people are really hesitant about getting them as they don't want that kinda problems in there social life.

From my experiences with people around me at least.

[–] SrMono@feddit.org 4 points 2 days ago

Jip. Social media covers that.

It is a pleasure to witness but also Tesla sales points are under protest.

Isn't it just wishful thinking that it's down because of elon and not because Chinese EVs are better/cheaper? Genuine question.
