Sounds like Ukraine would be within their right to do whatever it takes to prevent such an action regardless of how many toddlers are being used as a human shield.

[–] MyOpinion@lemm.ee 37 points 6 hours ago

It is almost like this Nazi is working against the interest of democracy and supporting the interest of a piece of shit like Putin.

[–] rraggl@feddit.nl 14 points 5 hours ago

And the tone he took with Sikorski when the latter reminded him that Poland is paying for a lot of Starlinks in Ukraine once more show their attitude to their (former) allies and why we need to cut those people loose and develop - or mass-deploy - self-reliant technologies like Eutelsat as quickly as we can. (I don't have the exact wording on hand but it was something akin to "Silence, little man...")

Musk's bodyguards have the opportunity to be heroes of the world right now. They would go down in history as great men.

When the insane Emperor Caligula was killed by his Praetorian guards and they installed Claudius in his place, the first thing the new Emperor did was execute the guards involved in the assassination.

[–] kandoh@reddthat.com 1 points 2 hours ago

Old claw claw was everyone's fool till he wasn't.

[–] Devmapall@lemm.ee 2 points 3 hours ago* (last edited 3 hours ago)

Can't be having those guards kill the new emperor. Makes sense

I wonder if the guards expected it or not

[–] AnUnusualRelic@lemmy.world 4 points 5 hours ago* (last edited 5 hours ago)

Even if everyone agreed with them at the time, it was unavoidable at the time. You couldn't have soldiers kill their emperor.

[–] rigatti@lemmy.world 9 points 7 hours ago

Since when is he an American billionaire?

[–] GreyDawn@lemmy.world 88 points 11 hours ago (2 children)

That fact that he made that comment would cause every other country to second guess themselves using this service. Starlink is now going to be a US service for the most part. My opinion anyway....who knows these days.

[–] AllNewTypeFace@leminal.space 18 points 11 hours ago

US, Russian and Hungarian

[–] ripcord@lemmy.world 9 points 11 hours ago

Anyone not already second guessing would be fools.

[–] FaceDeer@fedia.io 151 points 13 hours ago (3 children)

Meanwhile, Europe is pursuing replacements for Ukraine. Obviously none as good as Starlink and there'll be a rough time in the switchover, but Musk is not the only source for this kind of service.

And in the meantime, by merely making this statement Musk has doomed Starlink to never be seriously considered again as a provider for critical services like this elsewhere in the world.

[–] FenrirIII@lemmy.world 8 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

He sounds like a shitty Bond villain

[–] SlopppyEngineer@lemmy.world 41 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

That really will do wonders for the "don't buy American" waves that's washing over Europe at the moment.

[–] RamblingPanda@lemmynsfw.com 8 points 8 hours ago

I didn't need much more of a motivation, but yeah, that really helps cementing the idea.

[–] Diplomjodler3@lemmy.world 28 points 11 hours ago

But it made him feel really important for a while, which is all that matters.

[–] HubertManne@moist.catsweat.com 18 points 9 hours ago

Interesting. So it won't happen unless musk specifically does it. So if musk is not around then it could not happen. Very good to know.

[–] heavydust@sh.itjust.works 118 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

Downvoted because we don't have to hear all the idiotic thoughts of this moron but:

I literally challenged Putin to one on one physical combat

Putin is a crazy fucker from the KGB. Strength in a fight is not about age, going to the gym, or all the things Elon believes. I have personally known skinny old guys walking with a cane who could kick his ass in a few seconds.

Ukraine will inevitably lose

Putin propaganda, I am not surprised. The rest of the text is the same shit.

[–] independantiste@sh.itjust.works 79 points 13 hours ago (2 children)

Don't forget Elon chickened out on the 1v1 fight with Zuckerberg. He's all talk

[–] Walk_blesseD@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 4 hours ago

He didn't chicken out, his mum just said he wasn't allowed! /j

What a loser

[–] scytale@lemm.ee 33 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

Zuck would’ve destroyed him too. Dude actually trains in some mma discipline.

[–] epicstove@lemmy.ca 13 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

I wanna see em both face Luigi.

[–] AngryCommieKender@lemmy.world 19 points 11 hours ago

Only if Luigi gets two guns, and they get none.

[–] DarrinBrunner@lemmy.world 25 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

We'll need to surround every Tesla store with cops. It will be like crossing a picket line to buy one, and should be protested as such.

[–] mbrailer@mstdn.social 68 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

@MicroWave Elon Musk truly is a James Bond villain, right down to bragging about his evil master plan to take over the world.

[–] floofloof@lemmy.ca 40 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

He's doing that supervillain thing with his fingers in the picture too.

[–] Retropunk64@lemmy.ml 41 points 14 hours ago* (last edited 14 hours ago) (1 children)

That's why you don't trust these cunts. They're fucking evil. Also, PACE motherfucker.

[–] credo@lemmy.world 26 points 14 hours ago

Primary, alternate, contingency, emergency [comms] planning. For the uninitiated.

[–] RamblingPanda@lemmynsfw.com 19 points 13 hours ago

Eutelsat, now is the time for haste. Let's replace that asshole.

[–] athairmor@lemmy.world 32 points 15 hours ago

Broadcasting his intention like this really puts a target on his back. He should be more careful… or not, I’ve stocked up on popcorn.

[–] Eggscellent@sh.itjust.works 13 points 15 hours ago

If he really believed that, it would already be off.

[–] Litebit@lemmy.world 14 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

Ukraine will help you switch it off with fireworks.

[–] bizzle@lemmy.world 19 points 14 hours ago

I would love if Ukraine shot these pieces of shit out of the sky, that would be so funny.

[–] 52fighters@lemmy.sdf.org 9 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

It would be a shame if the government relieved him of his ownership/control after discovering the company useful for national defense. It won't be Trump but I hope that's the result of the next election.

In the meantime, it looks like his businesses are circling the drain.

[–] floofloof@lemmy.ca 11 points 10 hours ago

the next election.

I do love an optimist.
