It’s sad that it has come to this. When I was growing up I envisioned and much more optimistic and interconnected future for the globe.

My personal priority is to boycott mega corporations. So while we buy from EU or anywhere else, we need to be careful not to the reinforce the problems of rampant capitalism here too. Simply buying EU is too simplistic. Let’s not make more dangerous millionaires and billionaires.

True on the one hand, but on the other hand, at least the EU/its member countries have sharper teeth with regards to antitrust measures and customer protection than the US have.

This is good. We are doing what we can, but truth be told even if we put everyone together, across Lemmy, Reddit, Facebook and so on, we are still just a tiny bubble compared to the hundreds of millions that live in the EU.

Even more so if we count in alternative allied markets like Canada or the UK. We are doing what we can, but the 'big guns' (governments, companies, etc.) can do much more than we can with the reach of their influence. They are important in making this effort an actual change-inducing movement instead of a minority fad.

This is a good thing to ask for, and I'm happy they're stepping up along with us.

Yeah, I think at scale what we can do is to provide grassroots political support for this push. So that could in fact become our major task: To figure out collectively what to do next: what to demand or build, and how to gather support for it.
