Thanks for the update, now I don't have to open reddit

[–] davetapley@lemmy.world 32 points 2 years ago (3 children)

Haha, guilty admission: seeing nothing here I went to Reddit and sure enough someone had posted the update there.

I was about to go on with my day but then realized we're all gonna have to put a bit of work in to break free of Spez, glad you appreciated it!

Thank you for your service

This makes no sense. Should have recieved atleast one penalty(for impeding tsunoda) as there is a lot of precedence of grid penalties given for impeding.

[–] FengaNails@lemmy.world 11 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I really thought the pit lane one was so outside the spirit of the rules it would create a bigger response. It's not like they're taking him off pole

[–] davetapley@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

So if the precedent is there's no penalty for stopping there, then conceivably you could park and wait towards the end of a session, then go at the last second so other people queued behind you couldn't complete their out laps in time?

[–] bernieecclestoned@sh.itjust.works 10 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Surely if you get reprimanded once, you get a grid penalty for the second offense?

[–] Yadaran@feddit.de 2 points 2 years ago (2 children)

No it's 3 reprimands then you get a penalty, like with the track limits

[–] bernieecclestoned@sh.itjust.works 6 points 2 years ago (3 children)

Is it? Palmer on F1TV was sure it was a slam dunk penalty

[–] Bademantel@feddit.de 8 points 2 years ago (2 children)

I think for impeding you normally get a grid drop penalty, not a reprimand. Kind of surprising to me.

[–] reddit_sux@lemmy.world 5 points 2 years ago

Not that surprising, he is after the golden child of F1 and FIA

[–] Atomic@sh.itjust.works 1 points 2 years ago

Depends on the track and other circumstances such as information from the team.

Why would they try to sugar coat it when he's already starting P14?

[–] Thade780@lemmy.world 1 points 2 years ago

Brundle was saying the same thing in the international feed.

[–] Yadaran@feddit.de 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Idk, that's how it was explained some years ago so I guess the rule is still the same

[–] Bademantel@feddit.de 2 points 2 years ago

It's actually 5 for a 10-place grid penalty. Unlikely to happen.

[–] WhoRoger@lemmy.world 9 points 2 years ago

Can't say I didn't expect it since Max can get away with anything, but still facepalm. I'm guessing Alpha Tauri had to lobby that the impeding wasn't anything serious anyway.

Absolute bullshit. Fuck max.
