A movie about a coder that just will not leave you alone, unless you write everything in their favorite language

[–] BeardedGingerWonder@feddit.uk 11 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Oh man, I've just picked it up, it's really amazing, the compiler just holds your hand every step of the way, have you tried it yet? You really should.

Rust is coding in COMMUNISM

[–] kittenzrulz123@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 2 months ago

I thought it was coding in TRANSGENDER

:3

Historically inaccurate. In Rust you wake up naked on the beach. A bad adaptation already. I wonder if they'll go through Radtown.

[–] ch00f@lemmy.world 13 points 2 months ago

Yeah, and I see no mention of type-safety and concurrency.

[–] hOrni@lemmy.world 31 points 2 months ago (2 children)

This movie needs no marketing. Everybody knows about it.

[–] can@sh.itjust.works 19 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

First I'm hearing of it.

Edit: oh, it's that one.

They did a bang up job on publicity already.

[–] JeeBaiChow@lemmy.world 14 points 2 months ago (1 children)

They finished the shooting a while back.

Alec's acting really firing on all cylinders

Can’t believe they are following through with releasing this. They will cancel complete looney tune movies but not one as problematic at this? I figured this project was done before post even started

[–] thatKamGuy@sh.itjust.works 5 points 2 months ago (1 children)

The Looney Toons (Tunes? I’m too lazy to look it up) movie cancellation was by WB/Discovery - who have developed a bit of a habit doing that, but it’s not common in the wider industry.

At this point, the movie is so infamous that they may as well try to cash in and cover some of those lawyer fees!

[–] boonhet@lemm.ee 5 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Tunes indeed and a very common mistake to make. I thought for years it was toons for sure, but it's tunes for the music, not toons for cartoons. The sister show was merry melodies, kinda helps remember.

[–] oddspinnaker@lemm.ee 1 points 2 months ago

It had never occurred to me that the two were related. Duh!

Wikipedia describes Merry Melodies as a spin-off from Looney Tunes!

The title of Looney Tunes was inspired by Walt Disney’s Silly Symphonies.

Otherwise someone died for nothing, and, more importantly, rich people would lose money.

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 18 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Is this based on the video game or the programming language? 🤔

[–] EySkibidiBabBab 2 points 2 months ago

Crossing my fingers it's based on the iron oxide 🤞

[–] undeffeined@lemmy.ml 18 points 2 months ago

Redemption isn't given, it's refactored

[–] shadowforrest@lemmy.dbzer0.com 12 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I have mixed feelings about this. On one hand filmmakers love making movies and want their work to be released so I feel Halyna would want it released. On the other hand I feel like the producers only care about recouping their losses and won't properly compensate her family.

[–] piyuv@lemmy.world 5 points 2 months ago

Agreed. Maybe her family would also like it released, so that her work on it wouldn’t go to waste? I hope either they’re properly recompensated, or they sue everyone’s asses.

[–] OccultIconoclast@reddthat.com 9 points 2 months ago

This movie is very memory safe

[–] SplashJackson@lemmy.ca 8 points 2 months ago

that's a programming language, right?

[–] steeznson@lemmy.world 5 points 2 months ago

Can't wait to see if this movie pops off (again)

[–] loaf@sh.itjust.works 4 points 2 months ago

I guess the idea of releasing one with Alec was shot down.

[–] Mubelotix@jlai.lu 2 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Come on, what will be next ? A country named Rust ?
