A few people I work with are huge Trump fans and with the news of taking over Greenland they are fully onboard with it and have been trying to find racial slurs for Greenland people. These people are mentally unstable and need to be removed from society.

[–] LandedGentry@lemmy.zip 32 points 6 days ago (2 children)

Look a lot of people online talk big game about how people should dump their partners or file labor abuses/lawsuits, etc. without any concept of what these things actually require from people. Chest pounding usually.

However, if you actually have colleagues who are actively trying to drop slurs at work, you need to report that shit immediately.

[–] pleasegoaway@lemm.ee 13 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Shun people like this, and if possible, quietly sabotage them.

[–] LandedGentry@lemmy.zip 12 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago) (1 children)

No point in going all cloak and dagger about it. Just go straight to HR and report them. Make them decide if they want that liability. Let them ruin their own lives.

This isn’t about revenge, this is about not having to work in a hostile work environment. This is about you and your sane colleagues not having to put up with this shit on top of the shit you have to deal with at work. I have zero tolerance for this kind of stuff. somebody says something fucked up at work, they usually get one polite warning from me that I don’t wanna hear it again. After that I let HR or upper level management deal with it.

[–] pleasegoaway@lemm.ee 8 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Not every workplace has HR. And in many cases, the offender may be your superior.

Cloak and dagger.

[–] LandedGentry@lemmy.zip 0 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago)

HR or upper management

You always have a boss. If not, then you’re the person who has to deal with this directly. They never said it was a superior, so we should operate under the assumption they aren’t reporting to this person.

[–] wanderwisley@lemm.ee 6 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Agreed! Most if not everyone I’m working with is all talk and no action. For the most part I just quietly listen and laugh to myself. Let them have their own awareness of the situation when it’s far too late. Although I highly doubt they will ever become aware of how bad things are in this country.

[–] LandedGentry@lemmy.zip 2 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Totally get the sentiment but you might have colleagues who are more deeply effected

[–] wanderwisley@lemm.ee 1 points 6 days ago (1 children)

I definitely believe that most are affected with something.

What is that minimizing title? He's talking about an invasion of conquest. Call it that.

[–] KulunkelBoom@lemm.ee 22 points 6 days ago (3 children)

Any American forces attacking Greenland are committing war crimes. If they listen to trump and go ahead with an attack the American military leaders of any rank will be guilty of war crimes. Let's see how many generals and admirals are willing to quit sucking trump's asshole and abide by the law.

[–] samus12345@lemm.ee 8 points 6 days ago (1 children)

guilty of war crimes

And just who would try them for it?

The Revolutionary Committee

[–] alkbch@lemmy.ml 4 points 6 days ago

That wouldn’t be the first time.

[–] dutchkimble@lemy.lol 9 points 6 days ago

Why doesn't Greenland/Denmark disallow them from even having a base there anymore?

[–] TropicalDingdong@lemmy.world 3 points 6 days ago

since these guys don't understand opsec I think I'm safe to assume they don't understand surface area either

[–] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 90 points 1 week ago (1 children)

What a fucked up world trump is making.

[–] pleasegoaway@lemm.ee 27 points 6 days ago (1 children)

His entire regime is truly evil and rotten to its core.

But hey, at least we don’t have a brown lady who laughs as our president.

[–] MutilationWave@lemmy.dbzer0.com -1 points 6 days ago (3 children)

Dude if we had elected her there would be a genocide in Palestine.

[–] MutilationWave@lemmy.dbzer0.com 11 points 6 days ago

I'll take my downvotes. /s is for cowards.

[–] Pilferjinx@lemmy.world 3 points 6 days ago

Huh, the genocide is off?

Trump is rushing straight to Justice League without doing the world-building first. Not one single person in this country outside of Trump's inner circle hates the Danes or Greenlanders (guess maybe they are still Danes?).

You can't just will a country to war. At least some people have to believe in the mission. And I'm betting Trump's rural base could give an absolute fuck about Greenland. It's not even like it's a "DEI country," the way Africa and the Middle East are.

What in the fuck is he playing at?

[–] barneypiccolo@lemm.ee 9 points 6 days ago

HitlerPig wants to quit NATO, amd form an alliance with Russia, China, and others. Both Russia and China have shown an interest in occupying Greenland. That allows them to have a base of power looming over Europe, and much closer to America.

In 2019, Tom Cotton got a letter from a Danish foreign minister, claiming to represent a Greenland separatist movement, and asking for money to fund a referendum on Greenland independence. Cotton took the letter to HitlerPig, who skipped right over the fundraising part, and decided that we could buy Greenland, and he hasnt shut up about it since.

In 2022, Danish intelligence determined the letter was a Russian forgery. The Russians sent the letter to Cotton because they knew he was stupid enough to not question its veracity, and woukd take it straight to HitlerPig. The Russians totally played both of those idiots.

Still, knowing the letter was a forgery, they have decided that its still a good idea to take Greenland. Theyve already invented a lot of propaganda claiming that Greenlanders actually welcome America's slavery, and these MAGA Morons always believe their own propaganda, so they are still in the hunt to buy, steal, or conquer Greenland.

Russia and China would love to share Greenland with America, so they can threaten western Europe more effectively.

[–] Semi_Hemi_Demigod@lemmy.world 6 points 6 days ago

Can't wait for them to try to false flag a terrorist attack from Greenland.

[–] originalucifer@moist.catsweat.com 57 points 1 week ago (7 children)

he wants the country to be 'at war' so all those wartime laws that give him more power come into affect. he can lockdown the entire country and claim that when a democrat sneezes its a national security issue, and oh look at that, this ancient law says he can lock citizens up.

that and he is a literal russian asset destabilizing the united states on behalf of putin.

thats my guess.

[–] barneypiccolo@lemm.ee 11 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Thats not a guess, thats a valid prediction based on the facts that we already know.

I agree with your prediction 100%, and add to it: When HitlerPig starts his war, whether in Greenland, Canada, Mexico, Panama, etc., he will call for a draft. In the past, there were deferments for those in college, or with good political connections, and those will still be in effect, but with restrictions. If you have student loans, you will be eligible for the draft. Only college students who have the money to pay cash for their college education will be deferred. That way the rich kids get out of it, but the poor and middle class still go. Only Republican connections will count for deferments, and even then only those who make substantial campaign contributions.

Anyone caught protesting will be drafted. Dissidents and critics will be drafted. Criminals will be drafted. Prisoners will be drafted. Age will not be a consideration, and you can be drafted even if you are retired. Basically, anyone they don't like will be drafted.

Of course, declaring a draft for a highly unpopular war will cause even more protests, where even more people can be detained and drafted.

I will declare this right now: There is absolutely no way I will allow my son to be drafted to fight in a MAGA war, for any reason.

[–] APassenger@lemmy.world 3 points 6 days ago (1 children)

What you describe is the least effective army that can be assembled. Not saying they wouldn't try, mind you... But that's not a group you give guns and put into a battlefield.

[–] barneypiccolo@lemm.ee 4 points 6 days ago

Obviously, MAGA isn't concerned with competence, just look at the people that they replaced competent leaders with.

They wouldn't care anyway. They are the types to just throw as many people at a front line as they can get. Kapo Stephen "PeeWee Himmler" Miller has said that he wants to reduce our population from 335 million, to 100 million rich white people. A war that kills millions of middle class/poor people plays right into that plan.
