I found this Proton issue specifically mentioning issues with Death Stranding: Director's Cut.
FWIW, Death Stranding (non Director's Cut) doesn't support the DualSense either way AFAIK.

I’m playing the Director’s Cut, and damn. Guess it’s Windows for this game for me.
Does this game have support for the xbox 360 controller? If yes, you can try xboxdrv
. It requires some manual config in a text file and you need to unload the dualsense driver before starting xboxdrv
and the Steam client.
I have very good results in Elite Dangerous on Linux which has no Dualsense support at all.
I think they want the Dualsense specific features to work. Not just the joysticks and the buttons. Dualsense stuff is not supported by xboxdrv.
Unfortunately, yes. /:
I decided for the Dualsense, because of the ergonomics. Full feature support was not a priority in my case.
