I just came back from a 3 day ban. I was warned before. In the 10+ years I’ve been on reddit this has never happened to me. But whatever. Lemmy is a great alternative.

[–] Allemaniac@lemmy.world 10 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

got permed for suggesting that the time to protest is now, before protesting becomes illegal and prosucetable und law lol

[–] Tiger666@lemmy.ca 4 points 14 hours ago

I said fascists should die. In more ways than one.

[–] puddinghelmet@feddit.nl 5 points 14 hours ago

The censorship on reddit is insane, I can't even post this picture there !

[–] BothsidesistFraud@lemmy.world 4 points 14 hours ago

Reddit's AI report processing is terrible. I got permed for advocating violence, discussing a completely hypothetical self-defense situation in the passive voice. Literally anyone with a brain cell would have understood it was not advocating violence.

[–] AugustWest@lemm.ee 4 points 14 hours ago

I just recently found out Reddit has achievements. I don't use their official apps or new desktop so I never saw them. When I see what Reddit looks like to most people it is so bizarre. Like completely different experience.

Thank goodness Lemmy looks and feels the way it should.

[–] VeryVito@lemmy.ml 3 points 14 hours ago

I recently deleted my active, 16-year-old, account after being told I was inciting violence simply by commenting that a particular GOP senator had himself to blame for an issue he was trying to pin on others.

I hope I'm not the only one in here who nuked my Reddit account voluntarily after they started ramping up censorship.

Basically, I saw what was coming and bailed off that site while I was still ahead.

[–] Billonthehill@lemmy.world 7 points 19 hours ago

Reddit censorship is out of control. I got a warning about ‘violence’ today. My crime? I reported that the guy who is currently spamming every Australian mobile phone with messages about out the ridiculous Trumpet of patriots party is getting spammed back. I said “couldn’t happen to a nicer fascist”. Ffs.

[–] debil@lemmy.world 5 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

Do they really nag for streaks? Damn, it's sadder than I thought...

[–] Venus_Ziegenfalle@feddit.org 3 points 19 hours ago

My tech support acc has an even funnier one but I only saw it after posting.

[–] blinx615@lemmy.ml 7 points 20 hours ago (3 children)

They're banning all humans

[–] IamJim@lemm.ee 2 points 15 hours ago

I'm permanently reddit band there for I am.

They keep sending me emails trying to get me to come back and I'm like "Unban my fucking account and I'll think about it."

My ban was for "Abusing the report system"

ie: Using it at all

[–] postalstiffler@lemm.ee 33 points 1 day ago (3 children)

Yep that’s why I’m here. They banned my 12 year account for sympathizing with Luigi.

[–] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 28 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

Reddit simply doesn't want an active user base. They want passive viewers ingesting AI generated content. Much better for advertising revenue that way.

[–] Ledericas@lemm.ee 8 points 21 hours ago* (last edited 21 hours ago) (2 children)

they have been culling via shadowbanning for a month now, much more aggressively like with the ban purgews. they following FB model, which is AI generated rw content.

[–] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 1 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

they have been culling via shadowbanning for a month now

Way more than months. This goes at least as far back as the 2016 kerfuffle over The_Donald, ChapoTrapHouse, and other increasingly popular outside-the-mainstream communities.

Honestly easier to trace it back to 2012, when Reddit was gaining popular steam and doing lots of high profile AMAs. Shadowbanning was a great way to quash the mix of spam accounts and hecklers without letting the people running the accounts know they needed to roll up new ones.

[–] Ledericas@lemm.ee 1 points 1 hour ago* (last edited 1 hour ago)

but it drastically increased last month, even compared to feb with all the site wide bans, shadowbans are more silent, so people dont notice it right away, reddit does this intentionally because they like being sneaky and tip people off.

and yes starting 2017 on, thats where i recieved my 1st ban ever on a sub, before that there was no problems talking about politics without getting censured. but i noticed they are going to lowest hanging fruit, rather than the high profile spammers, because they usually know the instant they get shadowbanned anyways.

My account just got suspended for mocking JD Vance in a joke thread. I appealed and got a permaban in response.

[–] ibelieveinthehousehippo@lemmy.ca 3 points 21 hours ago (1 children)

Mine was suspended for bullying or some shit because I told Mrs Guyliner to get fucked when she was taking her little vacation to Greenland

Just got 7 day ban for wishing that Elon musk poof out of existance. Fuck Reddit, and fuck the tyrannical Reddit admins.

[–] WorldsDumbestMan@lemmy.today 4 points 22 hours ago (1 children)

It's because they are sadistic, corporate bastards that need to be taken down! All corporate bastards need to be taken down.

We don't need corporations, we need all volunteer, donation-funded organizations.

[–] Tiger666@lemmy.ca 1 points 14 hours ago

Coops for the win!

[–] tomi000@lemmy.world 26 points 1 day ago (12 children)

So is Lemmy the dumping ground for people getting banned on reddit now?

[–] sugarfoot00@lemmy.ca 19 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Absolutely. I lost my 15 year account for using the phrase 'burn it all down' entirely metaphorically. They really, really didn't like Canadians pushing back. Fuck those guys.

I hope Reddit dies in a fire, and not a metaphorical one. One with the ownership group literally aflame. And I'd like to roast marshmallows over that fire.

[–] Tiger666@lemmy.ca 1 points 14 hours ago

I got banned from tik tok for saying that on day two of a US invasion into Canada, I would burn down their orange house. Of course, I was replying to an American saying we would be soft and easy to take over.

[–] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 15 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Less dumping ground and more release valve. The people Reddit is jettisoning are many of their more active and prodigious content creators and contributors. The site admins simply don't want new human content anymore. They want passive observers who will consume advertisement content without creating drama.

You still get banned here too. The mods can disagree politically and just ban you as they can on reddit.

[–] Sasquatch@lemmy.ml 8 points 1 day ago

Theres like, a little bit more transparency with the modlog

[–] Trihilis@ani.social 3 points 20 hours ago

Yeah but at least the platform is decentralised meaning you can still move your stuff to a better instance.

On reddit you can do no such thing. Lemmy is definitely not perfect but still miles better than reddit.

If you're not a russian orc troll, you're not welcome on reddit these days.
