" I told you I was going to eat your face. It was on the sign."

Oh yeah, and a lot of trumpers love them. They're still in denial. They'll say it's a roller coaster of emotions and that they hope things will be better, they hope Trump will make the right decisions, etc. But if you ask them point blank about the tariffs or any other policies, they'll start by saying how great they are, then gradually talk about the concerns while still being hopeful. Again, it's denial. They need to suffer more, unfortunately.

Well, I mean, yeah? He said he was going to do this. They voters chose him. And then he did it.

He also said the economy was going to boom, and I suppose it did.

If those Magats could read, they’d be very upset

Naww... the cognitive dissonance is strong with them

[–] sundray@lemmus.org 12 points 2 days ago

Yes. This is the modern Republican: they cannot alter their beliefs to fit the facts, so their only option is to alter the facts to fit their beliefs.

You have it ass backwards. They do not suffer cognitive dissonance. If they did, they would be suffering.

Instead, we have cognitive dissonance trying to understand them. They have zero confusion. And that makes no sense to us, so we suffer dissonance. It's all sane to them.

EDIT: You have to laugh at OP downvoting me. "NOAW! I'm not suffering!" Yes, you are. These assholes are perfectly happy in their own minds.

Especially since the current going idea is that tarrifs are allegedly a charge/tax another country is supposed to pay. They might just blame them for the escalating prices and say it's retaliatory, and thus deserving of even higher tariffs or some such.

[–] whereisk@lemmy.world 19 points 2 days ago

I mean but he also told them that others would pay for the tariffs and that prices would fall from day one. You take the whole incoherent rumbling and you could credibly argue that that they didn’t vote for one part of it but for all of it - an all or nothing proposition.

[–] Treczoks@lemmy.world 21 points 2 days ago

Well, they did. They probably had already forgotten that he had tried that shit before and failed.

His base literally DID sign up for this. Have the four years (hopefully not more) that you voted for, morons!

Even a broken clock is right twice a day.

He’s right. And that’s why it’s okay to call them out on it

[–] magnetosphere@fedia.io 6 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Is he saying that he’s accountable for all his campaign promises? This is only a valid defense he’s equally responsible for everything he campaigned on. Like, for example, lowering the price of groceries. The voters didn’t just sign up for the bad stuff - they signed up for EVERYTHING you promised them, Don.

[–] peregrin5@lemm.ee 9 points 2 days ago

It's probably not his fault he's an idiot.

However the voters who voted the idiot into the highest office or refrained from voting are certainly at fault.
