They are though. He's done, he knows it, but he won't leave and it takes time to force powerful old men to retire.

Chuck Schumer is running the bet that the GOP will implode before the whole country goes up in flames.
It's solely a hedge to save his party and capture as much power as possible.
Maybe it works but it was never for you. Unless you believe the democrats are actually "elites" that deserve to be in charge.
Personally, I think their time has come and gone and it's a crying shame they were never once put together well enough to do something for those that come after.

"Leader" of Senate Democrats. I put that in quotes because I'm not seeing any leadership out of the guy. He needs to go.
Despite his name being the title and half a dozen times in the article, it will forever be a mystery.
I mean what does he do, is he like the opposition leader or something?
He does nothing. In theory he would be an opposition leader but he's happy to play the "not quite as bad as Trump" role, which means he won't do anything to actually stop Trump.
He's the most senior Senator in the democratic party, he's as entrenched as they come.
“Polls come and go. Our party is united. We’re on our front foot, we’re stepping forward, going after Trump and having real success,” Schumer insisted.

I have despised this craven, insipid, spineless weenie ever since he collaborated with a clumsy Republican smear campaign to ruin Al Franken's career.
Since then, he has been ineffective at best, and has been a cowardly collaborator at worst. It's time for this loser to be removed from office, let AOC take his place, and be replaced as Senate Minority Leader by someone bold enough to go toe-to-toe with the MAGA Nazis.
He's not struggling to meet the moment, he's struggling to hold his own party down. Make no mistake, that traitorous bastard is a collaborationist Vichy-Democrat, a blue-dog-Republican snake. He wants as little to be done about the exploitation of the nation as possible, so he and his doners can reap the rewards.

Please primary all these dinosaurs, they were old when I was still young. I don't know your process but please get more progressives in the house and send this current batch out to pasture
Schumer’s seat is only up in 2028 but if enough of his allies - preferably in safe seats - get primaried in 26 and the new progressives hold them in the general election (and hopefully win some back from GOP) I expect he will be forced out of leadership for the next Congress
It has to have enough shift to progressives or else he will take credit and stay on. He will also be ousted if Democrats lose again but in that scenario MAGA will continue unchecked for 2 more years at least

Schumer is a deer in the headlights at this point. If we’re being generous, he’s useless. If we’re being honest, he’s a fascist enabler. And fascist enablers are fascists with extra steps.

"Struggles" is being generous. He is intentionally not fighting. The elderly leadership and all the AIPAC loyalists within the party major road blocks to any form of fighting back.
There's no struggle. Dude has always been fash.
This is the man who said his purpose as a Senator is to serve Israel. He should move to Israel. I wouldn't be surprised if he already has Israeli citizenship.
