If you find an injured owl:
Note your exact location so the owl can be released back where it came from. Contact a licensed wildlife rehabilitation specialist to get correct advice and immediate assistance.
Minimize stress for the owl. If you can catch it, toss a towel or sweater over it and get it in a cardboard box or pet carrier. It should have room to be comfortable but not so much it can panic and injure itself. If you can’t catch it, keep people and animals away until help can come.
Do not give food or water! If you feed them the wrong thing or give them water improperly, you can accidentally kill them. It can also cause problems if they require anesthesia once help arrives, complicating procedures and costing valuable time.
If it is a baby owl, and it looks safe and uninjured, leave it be. Time on the ground is part of their growing up. They can fly to some extent and climb trees. If animals or people are nearby, put it up on a branch so it’s safe. If it’s injured, follow the above advice.

I couldn't have done it without you all!
Pfff, here, have some beans, at least you can pretend you can eat these.
DO NOT SUMMON THE BEANS
Well deserved! Your consistent owl-posting is a highlight of my day
I am always glad to hear I'm making a positive contribution!
There are plenty more beautiful and amazing pictures and stories for me to share, so keep sticking around!
Nice, congratulations.
Love it!
I have no idea what the lemmy.world lemmy silver event is/was, but I love seeing all the owls in my feed... so congrats & keep it up!
A charity giveaway by the instance admins. Top 5 vote getters got money for a charity of their choosing.
I've got tons more great owls to share, so fear not!
That's really cool, excellent job everyone involved!
Also, lemmy owl coins for the general public when? Could be the new Silver!
It was great to see everyone's participation, from both the regulars and the lurkers. We've got a really good group of people here!
Everyone loves an owl after all!
I knew someone who hated owls. They were a terrible person and I think those two things are related.
Congrats!
I come across enough stories about people that don't, but as you said, they are not my type of people! If you can't at least respect nature, I don't know how you can respect anything.
Thanks to everyone that participated!
Maybe an owl killed their parents.
You may be joking, but that is one of the beliefs that leads to people killing or scaring away owls! 😟
Congratulations :D cool coins, too!
Thank you for the support!
They really had a great variety. It would be neat to see some of the holographic ones in person.
Nobody deserved it more than you :p
I do my best to keep learning and to make it interesting for you all as well!
Wow those are some cool coins!
I think there were almost 70 listed under "owl" though not all are still available. Canada seems to be one of the biggest pro-owl countries I've come across.
Hurray!!
I'm happy we got to do something good as a group!
I am a constant lurker here, I love what you share.
I'm glad you enjoy it! Do you have a favorite owl or fun fact you've learned?
The dogs that could smell owls were pretty cool. If you ever find the reverse you could have a fantastic carnival act.
I was just thinking about those dogs recently! I believe I saw a post from then saying their program is at risk of losing its funding/grants thanks to the government shenanigans, soni hope they keep getting good work with all the various jobs they do!
Getting an owl to do anything seems to be a great challenge, but I'd sure love to see it! 😁
