Really hoping Nuremberg 2.0 trials are on the horizon.

[–] opus86@lemmy.today 4 points 16 hours ago

Because one day in the future, it will get better. Right around the time Trump and his cronies aren't involved with it anymore.

He did say he would lower prices on day one, and prices on day one of his presidency were definitely lower. So he delivered, you just have to think backward in time.

Ooh, this thinking in reverse thing is really filling me with optimism! America ditches Trump for Obama, women gain abortion rights, … Hmm

[–] adarza@lemmy.ca 18 points 1 day ago

don't go back too far.. you'll run into a mediocre actor, worshiped by the right, undoing everything and mortgaging the future to give tax cuts to the wealthy.

Yeah, like playing a country record in reverse: your wife comes back, you house unburns and your dog undies.

[–] Thassodar@lemm.ee 7 points 1 day ago (1 children)

My dog undies what? What did my dogs undies do damn it?!

[–] SarcasticMan@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago

Dude at least your dog wears undies, mine just freeballs all over the house just nuts and butts to sofa.

It's a transition period into a bigger recession.

[–] jaybone@lemmy.zip 12 points 1 day ago (1 children)

It’s a transition into a depression.

[–] blargle@sh.itjust.works 2 points 19 hours ago

Optimistic scenario: the Great Depression ends up getting renamed, the way they had to rename the Great War when World War 2 happened.

Pessimistic scenario: Economists are forced to invent a third "-ession" word to describe what's going on.

Some people on wall street say we are going to have the greatest economy in history

Im not very educated about these things, but which countries have isolated themselves from free trade and are rich?

[–] Redditsux@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

lol none that I know of.

WELKER: Some people on Wall Street have expressed concerns that the possibility of a recession is increasing. And I wanna know what you think about that. Are you comfortable with the country potentially dipping into a recession for a period of time if you are able to achieve your long-term goals?

TRUMP: Well, you know, you say some people on Wall Street say. Well, I tell you something else. Some people on Wall Street say that we’re gonna have the greatest economy in history. Why don’t you talk about them? Because some people on Wall Street say this–

WELKER: Well, that’s what I’m getting at. That’s what I’m getting at, though. It’s the same question.

TRUMP: There are many people on Wall Street say this is gonna be the greatest windfall ever happened.

WELKER: And that’s my question. The long term. Is it ok in the short term to have a recession?

TRUMP: Remember this. Look, uh, yeah. It’s– everything’s ok. What we are, I said this is a transition period. I think we’re gonna do fantastically.

[–] 13igTyme@lemmy.world 34 points 1 day ago (3 children)

I fucking hate Interviews where the person asking the question is also giving them an out. Welker is literally giving Trump an out and could just say, it's long term.

Leave that part out because there is no long term gain, unless you are Trump or Putin.

[–] xyzzy@lemm.ee 10 points 1 day ago

This is exactly why I posted the entire exchange. Even an MSNBC interviewer is providing cover in this interview.

[–] KingGordon@lemmy.world 15 points 1 day ago

Or just a simple “Who says that? Nobody is saying that. Give me a name.“ Uno reverse his stupid ass.

[–] barneypiccolo@lemm.ee 4 points 1 day ago

The media in this country is useless. They now think their entire responsibility is to offer a platform for the MAGA Nazis to spew their propganda, unchallenged.

[–] xc2215x@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Okay for him but not the American people.

Well they shouldn't have voted for it or sat on their asses last election then.
