The title is completely sensationalized.

There was one person who disrupted it by shouting about Gaza (a worthy thing to shout about), and just shouting that she was a liar. AOC maintained her decorum; the crowd became irritated with the disruption, and booed the person, who was shortly thereafter escorted out. Not arrested - escorted out. AOC then followed this up with:

“Here’s the deal, with town halls: I more than welcome people who disagree or are maybe even super pissed off at me for any issue to come but we have some ground rules here. Please wait for the Q&A because we don’t want to deprive all of our neighbors of the ability to have information and hear things and respond to it,” Ocasio-Cortez told the crowd.”

I genuinely cannot think of how she could have handled this better or more gracefully.

One person asked a question outside of the Q&A portion and was eventually escorted out and they call it chaos? Even compare it to other town halls where people were tased.

Pure sensationist title.

The Congresswoman remained calm and repeated that she would be ‘happy’ to take her question during the event in Queens

So, not really chaos at all, then.

[–] blakenong@lemmings.world 16 points 9 hours ago

It’s just people trying to crush the United States through headlines. The only person who can do anything about Gaza is Trump. But yeah, let’s blame AOC… that makes sense.

I would have invited the protester back for the Q&A as a massive power move/give that person a chance.

[–] JeeBaiChow@lemmy.world 1 points 1 hour ago

Then watch them squirm and flub the issue they claim to champion.

"well, gosh people are yelling at the fascists, and now they're yelling at the people yelling at the fascists - I guess those two positions must be basically identical!" - the hypothetical idiot this paper hopes will find this article.

hypothetical

sigh

If only...

[–] Nightwingdragon@lemmy.world 9 points 8 hours ago

This is probably an attempt at making Democrat town halls become as chaotic as Republican town halls, so when the press reports another incident at a GOP event, they can write it off as "no big deal" and blunt the effectiveness of protesting at town halls.

Why is this post title edited (incorrectly) from the article itself?

[–] Nightwingdragon@lemmy.world 3 points 8 hours ago

There have been times I've seen the title of the original article changed after the article had already been submitted. Was very common on Reddit.

“I want to know what you’re doing about the genocide in Gaza!” the woman shouted, pointing at Ocasio-Cortez on the stage. “Shame on you! You’re a liar!”

Jfc. The ML shows up to destroy the democrats while totally allowing the Trump administration to operate unencumbered—as planned to destroy the US from the inside out.

Also, anyone who introduces themselves as a nurse is a total nutcase. I know dozens of nurses. Most of them walk fine line between holding it together and absolute chaos.

Clearly anyone who cares about Gaza is an ML, good point. Quit blaming people who don't like genocide for Trump. This mentality, the way you blame everything on Trump and Russia rather than taking responsibility, ensures democrats will never will again. And I'm so so happy about that considering they're the left wing of fascism and do nothing to stop Trump besides basic party line shit, and how wholeheartedly they supported the genocide of Gaza

"while allowing the trump administration to operate unencumbered" every right wing accusation is a confession

[–] blakenong@lemmings.world -2 points 6 hours ago

Haha. You heard me. Nice twist.

ML doesn’t care about genocide. They weaponize it to crush the west. This is why none of them criticize Trump for doing nothing. It’s all about dismantling the democrats to create a right wing controlled United States.

If they cared about genocide, we would hear them calling out the genocide all over the world…. But we don’t. If it doesn’t make the US look bad, they aren’t interested.
