Apparently Trump didn’t know Pentagon paused Ukraine aid back in February. Reuters: U.S. military aid to Ukraine was paused in early Feb — not by Trump, but by Defense Secretary Hegseth. There was no presidential order. The White House and State Department weren’t informed

The list of things Trump does know would be vanishingly short.

He seemed to know of the shipments being halted after he ordered them to be halted.

Seems like they are setting Hegseth up to take a few falls to consolidate blame.

donvict stopped shipments himself over two months ago, shortly after that meeting at the white house. src

So this is just trump gaslighting then. Or he really has that short of a memory.

I thought it would be Musk would be the first scapegoat. Öets see who'll finish the race first

[–] entwine413@lemm.ee 17 points 18 hours ago (2 children)

Musk still has money. He won't get the ax until that's gone because Trump doesn't realize he can just take Musk's assets. I'm sure there's plenty of legitimate reasons to sic most of the 3 and 4 letter agencies against Musk and his assets.

[–] SkyeStarfall@lemmy.blahaj.zone 9 points 12 hours ago

Nationalizing musk's assets really would be a broken clock moment for them imo

Well.. at least for when the government stops being fascist, that is

[–] mriswith@lemmy.world 2 points 17 hours ago (2 children)

If Musk fully crosses Trump, I wouldn't be surprised if suddenly starlink and spacex were labeled as threats to national security.

[–] futatorius@lemm.ee 7 points 15 hours ago

Using anything as shoddy as Starlink in a critical use case is definitely a threat.

It really depends on what Putin thinks of Musk.

I don't think Putin gives a fuck about Musk.

[–] futatorius@lemm.ee 7 points 15 hours ago

Putin thinks (no, he knows) that all of his American puppets are easily-manipulated fools.

[–] yata@sh.itjust.works 3 points 16 hours ago

Don't be ridiculous. Musk is part of the oligarchs controlling Trump.

[–] Cocopanda@futurology.today 17 points 16 hours ago

Shout out to the Ukrainian that hunts down Hegseth after he’s kicked out of his drunken job. I will laugh with joy when I read the headline of his demise.

[–] Embargo@lemm.ee 50 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

Oh no! Poor Mr Hegseth has found himself to be the fall guy for the U.S. administration. That's the juicy reward of being a fascist and buddying up with even more powerful fascists, I guess.

[–] Deathray5@lemmynsfw.com 8 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

He should be careful. These sort of regimes tend to have long knives

[–] Barking@lemmy.world 1 points 7 hours ago

Windows seem a popular accident also

[–] slaacaa@lemmy.world 23 points 17 hours ago* (last edited 15 hours ago)

I heard that Hegseth was seen in some DC grocery stores in the early mornings, switching the price tags on eggs, making them more expensive
