No shit, that's why he signs whatever they put in front of him, and project 2025 has been followed almost to a T. He doesn't give a crap about anything in project 2025. But he's mentally in lala land and they've been hiding his declining health for a while.

[–] entwine413@lemm.ee 65 points 1 week ago (1 children)

They haven't been hiding it well. His dementia was apparent even in 2016.

[–] NocturnalMorning@lemmy.world 32 points 1 week ago

It's not just dementia anymore. That's just a symptom, whatever it is has progressed a lot.

[–] Rentlar@lemmy.ca 35 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Can someone sneak in an executive order instituting free basic healthcare and education for all, in one of the bundles of paper he signs?

[–] NocturnalMorning@lemmy.world 23 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I dunno, give it a shot. Maybe he'll just sign it and go for a big mac.

Back before the election, Trump spoke about the fictional character Hannibal Lecter, at least twice, like he was a real person. Trump was never cognitively there!

[–] cobysev@lemmy.world 85 points 1 week ago (2 children)

He kept talking about Hannibal Lecter because someone mentioned asylum for immigrants, and the only "asylum" he knows is an insane asylum.

So he started talking about Hannibal Lecter every time he mentioned immigrants, equating them with insane cannibals who want to eat you.

Before DJT had symptoms of his father's Alzheimer's, which is a decade since now since it has shown on TV, he was even back then, how he calls it, a low IQ individual. And a racist

My brother in law, without skipping a beat: "obviously he meant Micronesia"

My reply, apparently not enough to get a response: "So you're okay with a president who's so cognitively vacant he can't tell the difference between two very different sounding words?"

[–] Zero22xx@lemmy.blahaj.zone 45 points 1 week ago (2 children)

"obviously he meant Micronesia"

These people are goners. Completely in lala land now. Trump could have an episode where he sits on stage digging into his diaper and eating his own shit and these people would go "Trump is a very smart man returning those nutrients to his body" and they'd all start eating their own shit too.

As well as the fact Micronesia is also not a country...

Man thought the Barbie movie was a documentary and is ready to nuke the country Mattel for making a woke movie in their country.

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 45 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Can someone confirm this is real? I refuse to watch this piece of shit any more than I have to.

[–] ickplant@lemmy.world 31 points 1 week ago (2 children)
[–] PotentialProblem@sh.itjust.works 41 points 1 week ago (3 children)

As much as I’m not a fan of Trump, based on that snopes article and the context around what he said… it’s pretty obvious that he accidentally said country instead of something like company. He followed up with remarks that made it obvious he knew that it was a toy company.

But how many accidents does it take? He always accidentally says the wrong thing. Its a pattern.

[–] NikkiDimes@lemmy.world 30 points 1 week ago

I also mispeak a lot, but that alone doesn't make me a dementia addled, fascist piece of shit unfit to be president. Him being a dementia addled, fascist piece of shit unfit to be president, on the other hand, does make him a dementia addled, fascist piece of shit unfit to be president

"Trump is not cognitively there".

So, he's the perfect representative for the American people.

At least you don't have a woman in office, huh America?

[–] FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world 30 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (24 children)

Hillary won the popular vote, so the "you're too misogynistic to elect a woman" take does not have a basis in reality. Also, you might have noticed that AOC is filling football stadiums in red states just by being willing to speak.

Kamala lost because people got poorer for four years under Biden and she very publicly affirmed she'd change nothing about his policies. Hell, she didn't even put a platform on her website until two weeks before the election. Kamala was a legitimately bad candidate.

[–] LePoisson@lemmy.world 11 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Kamala lost because people got poorer for four years under Biden and she very publicly affirmed she'd change nothing about his policies.

Well I think the problem is people perceived others as getting poorer or worse off but the economy was humming just fine and unemployment reached record low numbers iirc.

Like, in general terms, people did not get poorer for four years under Biden - but if that's what people think, regardless of the actual truth, that's what they'll act on.

Mfw Mattel secedes from the union

[–] Tattorack@lemmy.world 20 points 1 week ago

Trump is one of those guys you find on one of those "lol shit Americans say" videos where someone approaches "random" people on the street to ask them history or geography questions.

Except he's your president, and because your country is "nice" enough to have the world exchange currency we all have to suffer for it.

[–] RoidingOldMan@lemmy.world 20 points 1 week ago (5 children)

This one isn't so bad. Simple misspoken word. Meant to say "company" not "country." He referenced their "CEO" a moment later.

Literally a zillion valid thing to complain about Trump. This was nothing.

[–] Gradually_Adjusting@lemmy.world 28 points 1 week ago (1 children)

What makes it sting is that when it was Biden or Obama misspeaking, the right wing troll farms and the entire corpoganda machine would have a great day with it. And god help them if they wore beige.

So yeah, I don't feel a need to play fair anymore. He asked for every whiff of smoke he's getting.

He needs to be judged harshly on everything he does. Everything.

Let's just imagine if Biden had said something like that. Or if Obama did it (whilst wearing a tan suit for extra fake rage). The us media would've been shouting about it and there'd be TV shows about it. Oppositional politicians would've been demanding impeach this and impeach that etc etc etc...

But, oh, it's tRUMP who may have misspoke? Oh, well, he's done much worse so let's give him a pass, shall we? How about this...NO.
That fat, dumb, racist, rapist, orange cunt gets no pass, ever.

It's the small passes over the years that have had no consequences for him that have allowed him to move to bigger and bigger stuff to the big horrible shit that he's doing now. And has been doing for decades.
No passes, just harsh criticism. That's all he deserves.

Was he ever cognitively there?

If it were not for his mental decline, he would not have gained the populist support of so many uneducated or uninformed people. Back when Trump was young and sharp the average New Yorker couldn't stand him.

Years ago he was smart, fast, crooked, and completely devoid of ethics or morals. He has an instinct for self-preservation equaled only by New York City's most vicious, flesh-eating rats. Those traits were imparted by a ruthless father and honed by a cold-blooded mentor.

But time has the final word, and J. D. Vance is waiting in the wings like a pudgy undertaker with a bereaved expression on his face and a twinkle in his eye.

[–] gamer@lemm.ee 10 points 1 week ago

This is a stretch. I saw the video, and he just misspeaks by saying "country" instead of "company", but it's clear that he understands it'sa company. He says he'll place tariffs on their toys, not the "country of Mattel"

[–] saltesc@lemmy.world 10 points 1 week ago (3 children)

Contextually, there's no indication he had confused Mattel with a country, likely just said the word because of speech habit when talking about tariffs. To think he confused it, you'd have to subscribe to the idea he thinks it's a country that makes toys and is run by an executive, or had an ear piece correct him mid-sentence.

He fucks up multiple times a day. There's much more low-hanging fruit than this. Come on, peeps.

[–] TheOctonaut@mander.xyz 10 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Right. Just so we're clear then, he knows Mattel is a company, and he thinks companies can impose tariffs on the USA.

And that's better?

I wonder if he thinks Barbieland from the Barbie movie is the country of Mattel 🤔
