Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

Sure are a lot of large books on the plane for a guy who cant even read

[–] NocturnalEngineer@lemmy.world 20 points 2 months ago (2 children)

It's never occurred to me that the rich fly around with an unnecessary book case filled with books they'll never read.

[–] resipsaloquitur@lemm.ee 16 points 2 months ago (1 children)

It’s called tsundoku, peasant.

[–] melisdrawing@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago

I learned a new word, thank you.

[–] fossilesque@mander.xyz 41 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Haha, that thing must be absolutely infested with bugs.

[–] resipsaloquitur@lemm.ee 9 points 2 months ago (3 children)

Bedbugs, crabs, or the obvious ones?

Some scorpions too, just for funsies.

Wind scorpions. Aka Camel Spiders. There's only two right now....

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solifugae

Edit:

Claims that Solifugae aggressively chase people are also untrue, as they are merely trying to stay in the shade/shadow provided by the human

Even with the citation, that's still gonna be an OH FUCK NAW, from me.

[–] SolarMonkey@slrpnk.net 2 points 2 months ago

TIL if a camel spider chases me, I should run like the dickens toward a stationary shadow.

I have no idea when I’ll need that information but I’m glad to have it.

An arachnid, but I’ll allow it.

[–] phdepressed@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 months ago

Those come after the new tenant.

[–] xc2215x@lemmy.world 28 points 2 months ago

Cannot even imagine the reaction if Biden took 50 million from Mexico.

[–] Geobloke@lemm.ee 18 points 2 months ago (1 children)

The tackiness isn't the issue, it could be covered in bright pink fur and that still shouldn't be the main story

[–] Bakkoda@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 months ago

But if you constantly generate headlines discussing everything BUT the fact that the big Nugget got a half billion dollar bribe you can eventually normalize it.

Imagine the Dubai toilets

[–] HubertManne@piefed.social 14 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Whos paying for the fuel because the heavier the aircraft the more fuel it uses?

[–] CalipherJones@lemmy.world 33 points 2 months ago (3 children)

Taxpayers. It's always taxpayers. All the cost with none of the benefit. Taxation without representation.

[–] Gerudo@lemm.ee 7 points 2 months ago

We will also be paying twice. Remember, we are already paying for the original Air Force One replacement that's still being built.

[–] spongebue@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Taxation without representation

Maybe I'm taking this too literally, but... Huh? Half our representatives suck, but they are the ones voted in.

[–] phdepressed@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 months ago

Don't think any of our reps voted on him getting a new air force one much less one from Qatar.

[–] barneypiccolo@lemm.ee 1 points 2 months ago

Only the working taxpayers. The wealthy ones aren't expected to contribute, they have their own planes to maintain.

[–] peepopo@lemm.ee 4 points 2 months ago

Not to mention the amount of air pollution it will cause

[–] Poop@lemmy.ca 13 points 2 months ago (2 children)

I've been inside a jet that was a "sultan's" and it was tacky af. Nothing in there was cool, not even a little bit. Gold everywhere just because, hideous religious murals, tassles and gaudy fabric everywhere. Everyone else i know who saw it said the same thing. This aircraft had a fucking operating room in it because this person traveled with a surgeon like most normal people.

It was a disgusting display of wealth and really that people this rich often have no taste. I'm sure this is no different.

I know rich people can be very extreme with their health... but if you travel with a surgeon and have an operating room in your private jet I'm gonna assume you're up to some really nefarious shit

HitlerPig is well-known for his gaudy bad taste. Years ago, before he stole the presidency, I saw him give a walkthrough of his HitlerPig Sty in NYC, and it was horribly ugly. Lots of dark red velvet and gold.

Just look at the pictures of the Oval Office, now that he's pimped it out with random gold trinkets.

First order of business is a walkthrough with one of those Gordon Ramsay sperm finder flashlights from Hotel Nightmares.

[–] morphballganon@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago

"Built in Washington state" key bit of info there
