Season 1 was fantastic. Season 2 was all right. Season 3 was pretty bad.

I would love to see if they acknowledge whatever happened to Trish though

David Tennant nailed the purple man, that's IMO why season 1 was so good.

For sure. Such a menacing villain, and fit the themes of trauma and PTSD perfectly.

[–] exasperation@lemm.ee 2 points 4 days ago

Definitely one of the best villains ever put on screen. He killed it.

My immediate reaction was that the show only had two seasons. So... Yeah I apparently blocked that last one out completely.

I did the same, but this post brought it all back. Season 3 was , omg, i'm seeing images in my mind, glimpses of that season - oh no, it's too late now, i fully remembered the complete season. Fuck.

Trish had potential as Hellcat though. Should have been a Hellcat centered season. But no, the mom.

I just realized the Trish should have been in The Thunderbolts*.

Val was recruiting evildoers like Taskmaster, so why not Hellcat?

I think the real answer is that at the time they were making Thunderbolts it was still unclear whether the Netflix shows would be canon. Maybe for Thunderbolts 2?

[–] Dagwood222@lemm.ee 3 points 4 days ago

That's the real world answer, and it makes a lot of sense.

In the movie version it'll be that Trish escaped prison and Val couldn't find her. She will be one of the first new recruits they pull in.

She's so goddamn hot. I love a strong woman who doesn't take shit from nobody

I have to admit that I drifted away somewhere in season 2. I really loved her in the role, though and season 1 was amazing.

The only good Marvel thing for me recently was Defenders. So glad to see these guys back.

Was born again any good? I was thinking about watching it but I've never seen the original series, and I'm not going to so save your comments. Someone said you can still watch it but you miss a lot of stuff so I'm kind of torn.

I thought it was pretty good and I think it’s watchable without seeing the first series. The very beginning and very end won’t necessarily be as satisfying to you but the middle mostly does its own thing.

So I read a bit about the making of it...

The middle was filmed first by a different show runner (eps 2 to 6) and when it was reviewed, something wasn't sitting right so they brought on one of the original show runners.

To make it feel more like the original series, they made the 1st episode setting it all up, and then added the last 3 episodes. Then they had to refilm parts of the middle to accommodate some changes.

Born Again was good, but you've got to know that it went through a whole production reboot so it's an uneven season. As a result it's a great setup for season 2, but just an ok first season.

I'd say watch it, but I won't blame you if you wait until season 2 is about to come out. Luckily it's already well into production and shooting so it shouldn't be to long (hopefully late this year or early next year).

IMO don't bother if you are not going to watch the first seasons. There is so much information and character growth you will be missing (not to mention they are fantastic) that you won't feel the impact Born Again has.
