Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

Summary

During a welcome ceremony in Riyadh, Donald Trump, 78, appeared to nod off multiple times while seated next to Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

Trump was in Saudi Arabia on a four-day Middle East trip aiming to secure major investment deals.

Social media users mocked his apparent drowsiness, drawing comparisons to past criticisms Trump made of Biden. The White House denied he was disengaged.

Trump has previously been accused of dozing off, notably during his 2024 hush money trial, which he denied, claiming he was just “listening intensely.”

[–] FarFarAway@startrek.website 8 points 7 hours ago

Everything about trump reminds me of my grandmother. She was always "just resting her eyes."

Sleepy Trump is what we're going with? Not Dozin' Donald? Not Drowsy Donnie? Not Tired Trump? Not Tuckered Out Trump?

We can't win if we can't meme

[–] Tolookah@discuss.tchncs.de 28 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

Diaper Donnie is a tired little trumpy wumpy

[–] al_Kaholic@lemmynsfw.com 4 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

Dirty diaper Donnie drowsily dreaming during diplomatic dialogues.

[–] AcidicBasicGlitch@lemm.ee 2 points 8 hours ago

Tired Trump tunes in, turns on, and taps-out

[–] GuyFawkes@midwest.social 9 points 9 hours ago (2 children)

Dozin Donnie. He doesn’t deserve a full name.

[–] sudo@lemmy.today 1 points 5 hours ago

But you feel compelled to capitalize it, as if it deserves any of our respect?

[–] JollyBrancher@lemm.ee 2 points 8 hours ago

Wait, now - he only ever dropped the "g" at the end of his adjectives for... certain kinds of people. Who all just so happened to not be clearly white.

So let's keep it. It'd only upset him more

[–] Lucky_777@lemmy.world 10 points 10 hours ago

Dozin Donald is epic shit.

[–] griff@lemmings.world 1 points 10 hours ago

Sleepy? Dopey? Grumpy Trumpy? (Waiting for Snow White’s input)

[–] sfled@lemm.ee 8 points 8 hours ago

Narrator: Where will you be when the amphetamine wears off?

[–] Cruxifux@feddit.nl 8 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

Not to defend this guy, but I’d fall asleep during half this shit too.

[–] phant@lemmy.world 2 points 8 hours ago

Yeh, this has got to be one of the least embarrassing/concerning things he's done

[–] painfulasterisk1@lemmy.ml 3 points 7 hours ago

Sleepy Joe looks hyperactive compared to Trumpzzz

[–] elgordino@fedia.io 23 points 11 hours ago (2 children)

Jet lag must be pretty tough at 78

If only he had a better jet

You’d think they would somehow plan a buffer day. And I mean this admin, for this guy.

Otherwise, I know a presidents schedule is packed.

[–] SinningStromgald@lemmy.world 9 points 9 hours ago

They have at least one bed on Air Force One and I'm pretty sure it is for the president. He could have used it.

[–] BigMacHole@lemm.ee 32 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

He was THINKING REALLY HARD! This is NOTHING compared to SLEEPY JOE BIDEN RIDING A BIKE! He CANT even Ride a Bike!

[–] RunningInRVA@lemmy.world 7 points 10 hours ago

I would pay good money to watch Trump attempt to ride a bike.

[–] BrianTheeBiscuiteer@lemmy.world 25 points 12 hours ago

Sleepy Joe got one of his deep state actors to slip a pill into Trump's Diet Coke without the secret service noticing. Clearly a sign of dementia. So glad we don't have to deal with his covertly comatose leadership anymore. /s

  • Dozing Don

  • Slumpin’ Trump

[–] Treczoks@lemmy.world 12 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

We always knew that the accusition "sleepy Joe" was just an admission of his own failures.

[–] Drusas@fedia.io 7 points 9 hours ago

He wouldn't know how to insult something if he couldn't relate to it personally (e.g., projection).

[–] Ioughttamow@fedia.io 11 points 12 hours ago

Me:can we have sleepy Joe Biden? Mom: we have sleepy Joe Biden at home Sleepy Joe Biden at home: this jackass

[–] selkiesidhe@lemm.ee 5 points 11 hours ago
