Airport has seen multiple serious failures in past weeks while Sean Duffy has assured the public it’s safe to fly from there

Sean Duffy, the Trump administration’s transportation secretary, has revealed that he switched flights for his wife this week to help her avoid flying out of beleaguered Newark Liberty, one of the busiest airports in the New York area.

Duffy’s disclosure on Monday followed his repeated assurances to the American public that it is safe to fly from Newark, despite a spate of dramatic outages affecting the airport’s radar systems that is causing ongoing disruption and delays. On Sunday, the transportation secretary went on NBC News’s Meet the Press and insisted Newark was safe.

“It is,” he protested. “I fly out of Newark all the time, my family flies out of Newark.”

Hours later, speaking to the conservative radio host David Webb on SiriusXM, he said: “My wife was flying out of Newark tomorrow, I switched her flight to LaGuardia”.

Pathetic, inept, and unqualified to lead like all his close friends.

Safe != easy or convenient. If there are delays? I'd dodge that airport on that ALONE!

His wife probably flies private he was just trying to sound like a common man type of guy. These people govern over systems they never interact with

The number of extremely loaded people that fly first class public everywhere even though they could afford a private jet might surprise you.

I work for private jet type clientele, and only about 10-25% of our clients actually fly private jets everywhere they go. Which makes sense, considering it is about 1/10th the price to fly first class versus chartering.

Ive noticed actually just in the last year there has been a major drop off in terms of people chartering jets. It used to be that you had private jet owners, people who chartered jets, and then people who didnt fly private. Now you basically have people who either own a jet or are flying public with no inbetween. Even though these people could still afford to charter, its an easy place to tighten the belt. Just a <1 hr connection from our airport to the main airport in the state is a cool $10k

It's a though choice between Newark and LaGuardia though.

Have Trump pick her up on his new plane. It might make it to the destination.
