Just finished season 4 of The Wire. They really turned up the depressing nature of the story with this season, damn

Just watched the 1st 2 episodes of Murderbot.

I like it. It's humorous, but not overbearingly so.

I was disappointed that they answered so many questions up front, instead of flashbacks, and felt dum down the books. the hippie factor is over done.

For me I would give the television serie a 4/6 and the books 6/6

Another issue I have is that at least the first two episodes are less than half an hour long, and after this we will only get one per week. For me that's too little content per week, so I might just wait until more is released until I continue.

As a comparison Andor imo had an amazing release schedule with its 3 episode blocks with each episode being between 45-55min long.

I agree with this review. They are rushing through the story. That rushing means more voiceovers and more “terminal text overlays” (dunno what to call those things). Pretty sure the lead must’ve complained about wearing the helmet since he’s almost never in it. Also in the books, murderbot’s allies do a lot to make him look more human later on. Out of the gate on tv he looks completely human. After watching the first two eps, I think I’m going to give up on this one.

Say Nothing (about the Troubles in Northern Ireland)

[–] hitmyspot@aussie.zone 2 points 3 days ago

I really enjoyed it. As an Irish person, I was concerned that it glorified terrorism in a way, but I think by the time it concludes, it's pretty balanced, if not all accurate. There has to be some allowance for artistic licence.

I think it's particularly poignant in the view of the current genocide in Gaza. Is Israel going to be surprised when they are subject to terrorism for decades even if some kind of peace is realised.

I think Say Nothing does well to show the heartbreak for those that lost family of the perpetrators get away with it. However, of they are to be held to account, it is in their interest to not reveal their story of what happened. It makes these sealed interviews seem like a good idea for historical purposes at least.

Maxine peake is great in this and pretty much everything she does.

It's on Disney+ where I am

Lioness. I'd heard good things and it has not disappointed. I'm currently about halfway through season 2.

Off topic but @skavau@lemm.ee thanks for all your work in this community I really like it here

Saw the first two episodes of Barry on a flight. The comedy felt a bit forced. It has great reviews and I would like to watch more episodes — I just don't feel an urgency to do so.

Also watching The Righteous Gemstones S2. S1 was great. S2 seems to have a lot of filler to come around to some overarching plot that's yet to be revealed.

Just finished the latest season of Will Trent.

I'm really enjoying the show more than I thought I would. I almost dropped it in season one, glad I stuck around.

MobLand has been consistently good.
