Not only is Gacha a bad game monetization from a consumers perspective, the moment it's implemented the game is shit, and you should be ashamed to play it.

I dont care about Genshin's cultural impact, Fortnite's mechanical depth or how hot the latest team fortress character is, you should always have the thought of supporting the indefensible in the back of your head while playing them and consider it a guilty pleasure. Meaning: keep your damn pulls to yourself!

And since I used to say it too: "You can absolutely play without paying money" isn't an argument when you need to pay with time instead, doing dailies is a chore, not leisure.

My favourite hill is Mount Robson so I guess that one

I would be willing to die on Kum just to sound funny.

As an egalitarian, I’ve died on many hills.

There needs to be a mandatory parenting training course if you're expecting a child.

Religion needs to be taken out of the government completely

I like this in theory. But I know in practice some idiots will always manage to get their hands on the curriculum.

Me too but it'd turn into eugenics so quickly.

I was fucking baffled walking out of the hospital with my baby. No training, no proof of education, no tests. Walking out with the nurse in tow asking them "yeah are you sure i don't need to like sign something?

From a recent argument on here.

If you back-in to park in a typical parking lot, instead of just pulling in, I fucking hate you. I don't give a shit what your dumbass excuses are. It's NEVER faster or safer. There's no epidemic of backing over people. You could back in over someone same as bavking out over someone. But that basically never happens anyways. But there's certainly shitloads of morons who clearly can't handle their vehicles or geometry and inconvenience the hell out of others as we sit and wait forever for your poor attempts to back-in and then straighten out two more times.

For everyone's insistence on doing this, they sure as hell fucking suck at it.

Now go buy a smaller car since you can't handle yours, learn to pull in and back out since it's simpler, and stop justifying the idiocy.

[–] dQw4w9WgXcQ@lemm.ee 1 points 27 minutes ago

I'm not downvoting you, because this is the type of comment the thread is asking for. But I really need to question this one. To me, it's obviously geometrically easier to back into tight parking lots. I'm not sure if you're in the US, but here in Norway, parking lots are generally a lot tighter than american parking lots. When you have only about a meter of total clearance and a narrow road along it, there is no way in hell to pull in front first.

[–] kellenoffdagrid@lemmy.sdf.org 1 points 1 hour ago

I totally agree, it's not changing the amount of backwards maneuvers you have to do, so what's the point? It's only slowing you and everyone else down on your way in, which is generally when people do not want to be slowed down. If the concern really is about backing into people, then maybe they can learn to be cautious, use/install rear cameras, and get a grip lmao.

Also, ditto on the smaller car thing, I wish hatchback sedans with a hitch were more common than SUVs, they're just better for everyday use/fuel mileage/maneuverability.

-for humanity to survive, it must eliminate the rich

-pineapple can go on pizza. You can put whatever you want on pizza. You don't have to like it for it to be a valid topping. Some people just hate things because they heard about it online.

-new York pizza is not the best pizza in the universe.

  • the people who want to change the date of celebrating Halloween to the last Saturday of October (or anything similar) are childhood hating assholes who think that it's more important to keep the capitalistic society going than celebration human culture. They would rather things be convenient for them and their bosses than to let people celebrate things when they please. There's also probably a bias against non Christian religions. If you find it inconvenient you should be mad at the system that makes it inconvenient for you to do something on a Tuesday night, not a holiday that's centuries older than your job. Work should work around holidays not the other way around.

I’ve seen crushed boiled eggs on pizza. Also ones with green olives on top that still had the pits inside.

12 hour time is an inferior standard, and we should be on 24 hour time so developers don't ever default to 12 hour time. Way too many instances of mission critical things getting swapped on am/pm by mistake. That is never a problem with 24h time.

[–] TheRealKuni@midwest.social 2 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

I’ve been trying to move over to 24 hour time. I swear switching from Fahrenheit to Celsius was easier.

[–] GojuRyu@lemmy.world 4 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

Really? That’s really surprising to me. I’m from Denmark where we use 24h time a lot so I’m used to it, but except for edge cases it’s easy to switch between them. Using Fahrenheit however is a struggle. I have to convert it every time, I have no idea about the temperature until I see it in celsius really. I guess it comes down to me having been exposed to both clock formats but only really on temperature unit.

[–] TheRealKuni@midwest.social 1 points 2 hours ago

My guess is I’d do better if every clock I owned was on 24-hour time. That’s how I did the Celsius switch, every device (except my car, which I haven’t been able to figure out how to change) I set to Celsius.

My hill: Laws that give “unnecessary” rights to people are still good overall and shouldn't ever, EVER, be reversed. Laws that give “unnecessary” rights keep society stable and have come from past times soaked in blood. If you reverse 60-100 years of these gains, then society will collapse.

  1. The big hill in my neighborhood park.

  2. Capital Hill

I don't really know of any other hills or why I would be near them so if I die on a hill it will probably be one of these.

Apple products aren't any better than anything else, it's just marketing and branding. They're like the Starbucks of computers.

[–] CommanderCloon@lemmy.ml 1 points 25 minutes ago

heh it truly depends on a lot of factors. I don't want to "cheap out" pn a high-end windows laptop, their thermals are shit, the battery life is non-existent, the keyboard is trash, and the computer frame are rarely decent.

A macbook is expensive, yes, but I've never experienced having to doubt the hardware, or get weird issues with it. It's a peace of mind I'm willing to pay a premium for. I even have a mac mini as a server for the extremely low power consumption & extremely good CPU performance (seriously, this thing competes with i9s for a fraction of the power (I'm exclusively interested in single thread applications))

As for iphones & apple watches, I like to tinker with my stuff way too much for them to make sense to me (which my macbook allows me to do as much as I want)

I'm exclusively talking about my experience with apple silicon, idk how it was before the M1 chips came out.
