Enough Musk Spam

For those that have had enough of the Elon Musk worship online.

No flaming, baiting, etc. This community is intended for those opposed to the influx of Elon Musk-related advertising online. Coming here to defend Musk or his companies will not get you banned, but it likely will result in downvotes. Please use the reporting feature if you see a rule violation.

Opinions from all sides of the political spectrum are welcome here. However, we kindly ask that off-topic political discussion be kept to a minimum, so as to focus on the goal of this sub. This community is minimally moderated, so discussion and the power of upvotes/downvotes are allowed, provided lemmy.world rules are not broken.

Post links to instances of obvious Elon Musk fanboy brigading in default subreddits, lemmy/kbin communities/instances, astroturfing from Tesla/SpaceX/etc., or any articles critical of Musk, his ideas, unrealistic promises and timelines, or the working conditions at his companies.

Tesla-specific discussion can be posted here as well as our sister community /c/RealTesla.

"So... about your spaceships. Would you allow foreign kids on them?"

[–] JuxtaposedJaguar@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 day ago

“If they pay me 10 million dollars, sure.”

[–] Redex68@lemmy.world 31 points 1 day ago (3 children)
[–] SkyezOpen@lemmy.world 15 points 1 day ago (2 children)

They're correct. But neither is he a space or engineering expert, so maybe we should just ignore his opinions on those things entirely as well.

[–] M0oP0o@mander.xyz 4 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

They are wrong that none of his "endeavors" deal with immigration.

[–] SkyezOpen@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

True, but he's only an expert in exploiting visa workers.

I actually disagree, Elon has been a high profile, staunch supporter of the Republicans and Trump for a while now and was at a high level position with a lot of influence on the government (head of DOGE), and still has significant influence on Republicans, I think it's only natural to ask someone like that their opinions on government policy.

[–] Eww@lemmy.world 13 points 1 day ago

He isn't a government expert either, so why TF is he fucking with our government?

Nazi coward gonna Nazi cower.

[–] buddascrayon@lemmy.world 14 points 1 day ago

This was somewhat gutsy of the reporter to ask, but when Elmo dodged like that he should have said, "Well I guess that's the interview over. We'll just air this clip and get about 10 million views. Should pay for our time here nicely." And then left the Nazi prick to sit and stew in his own shit.

[–] bitjunkie@lemmy.world 19 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Guys let's try to keep the discussion about Rampart

[–] GraniteM@lemmy.world 157 points 2 days ago (1 children)

"Do you think that foreign students might have materially contributed to the creation of your spaceships?"

[–] Deflated0ne@lemmy.world 42 points 2 days ago (8 children)

If this isn't the kind of stuff you're asking. You're doing it wrong.

[–] Snowclone@lemmy.world 18 points 2 days ago

The press is very deeply beholden to wealth.

“Free speech absolutist”

[–] Halosheep@lemm.ee 42 points 2 days ago (4 children)

To be fair, free speech should include the freedom not to speak.

[–] JuxtaposedJaguar@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 day ago

I plead the fifth.

[–] bitjunkie@lemmy.world 18 points 1 day ago

He should fucking exercise it more

[–] Snowclone@lemmy.world 16 points 2 days ago

I agree he doesn't have to answer, but if you're supposed to be REALLY into free speech which largely means freedom of the press, you probably wouldn't be into giving the press huge stipulations on what questions they are allowed to ask or not.

[–] Pnut@lemm.ee 19 points 2 days ago

Musk isn't playing fair though.

Can they really be called spaceships if they never get to space?

[–] JuxtaposedJaguar@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 day ago

They get to space, they just don’t stay in space. Like every vehicle meant to be crewed by humans.

[–] pulsewidth@lemmy.world 111 points 2 days ago (20 children)

Even worse - he named his space vessels 'Starship' - implying that they have the ability to travel between stars.

They will study this man's narcissism in future history classes alongside Trump. The era of the ego.

[–] smiletolerantly@awful.systems 24 points 2 days ago

Even worse worse, he named prior projects after Culture ship names. Whose author despised him.

[–] jj4211@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

I can't find the article now, but there was a news article that talked about "interstellar missions to mars", and it drove me nuts

You know that you're in the right when you're ashamed to share your opinion publicly.

[–] JuxtaposedJaguar@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 day ago

He’s not ashamed, he’s scared of Trump.

[–] qarbone@lemmy.world 25 points 2 days ago

You're not wrong but we've already had enough fascists not feeling ashamed to air heinous ideas publicly in the US. Shame isn't a good, universal metric because some people don't feel it and will weaponize that.

in that case: what happened to your face? Did you fall and hit your head on one of your spaceships?

[–] DragonTypeWyvern@midwest.social 32 points 2 days ago (1 children)

If a billionaire you know is suffering from mysterious falls, it's important to let someone know so they can laugh at them too

[–] matdave@lemmy.ml 4 points 1 day ago

[–] RedditIsDeddit@lemmy.world 39 points 2 days ago (2 children)
[–] ShawiniganHandshake@sh.itjust.works 16 points 2 days ago (6 children)

No. No, no, no. Under no circumstances should anyone fuck Elon Musk. I cannot emphasize this enough. Elon Musk should be left alone to go fuck himself.
