I’m so happy this other large company which wants to embed itself as a storefront and soak up fees won against the other large company which was already doing it.

Like, genuinely I am, but Epic isn’t doing it out of the goodness of their hearts. Epic/Sweeney is mostly sad they didn’t have the monopoly first.

Who cares? It's a win for everyone.

Biggest disappointment is that it took a rich twat to twist the government's arm and do what should've done 10 years ago.

Give Tim Sweeney lots of money? Why would the government do that?

[–] Ulrich@feddit.org 6 points 3 months ago (1 children)

...why would anyone do that?

[–] Bronzebeard@lemm.ee 1 points 3 months ago (1 children)

What a dumb bar to judge them by. Not a single entity with an interest in fighting this fight would be doing it out of the goodness of their hearts

[–] dormedas@lemmy.dormedas.com 8 points 3 months ago

They did a good thing but I still get to judge them for ultimately being greedy.

Okay now he should be able to afford developers to make all their games on Epic SteamDeck-compatible, right?

Epic literally cannot even bother, they handed Linux to valve on a golden platter

"... Long national nightmare...". I think this guy likes his hyperbole. Trump, DOGE, and the rest of the current government? National nightmare. Russia attempting to invade Ukraine? National nightmare. Israel killing thousands of children in a bid to wipe out an entire populace? NATIONAL NIGHTMARE. This guy needs to visit reality more often.

The rich don't live in reality

Apple v Epic is like the Trump-Elon fight. Apple, like Trump, does more and lasting damage. Sweeny, like Elon, is somehow even more hate-able.

I don’t want either side to win, I want both sides to lose.

When the girls are fighting, I'm on team popcorn.

[–] pirrrrrrrr@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Nah. The girls are good. THE GROWN BILLIONAIRE MEN are fighting. Don't rope women in to this.

Billionaires are fucking weird.

[–] zipzoopaboop@lemmynsfw.com 2 points 3 months ago (1 children)

That was a reference to AOC making fun of Trump and Elon

[–] pirrrrrrrr@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 3 months ago

I know. AOC should know better.

[–] MetalMachine@feddit.nl 12 points 3 months ago

Thought Epic isn't entirely the good guy, this is great news for them and everyone else who's been under Apples oppressive rules

[–] Binturong@lemmy.ca 3 points 3 months ago

Tim Weenie can go kick rocks, barefoot.

[–] Etterra@discuss.online 2 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Too bad (for him) Epic is still trash.
