They should have been tipped off by how his eyes glowed when they put the kidney in.

Don't the organs get checked before they get moved over?!

[–] shalafi@lemmy.world 14 points 1 week ago

You can hardly dissect the thing before the operation. In this case it was a failure to screen the donor's blood.

Jesus Christ, how do you even begin to find out that there are worms on your kidneys??

[–] Deceptichum@quokk.au 16 points 1 week ago

Donate them.

I have a kidney transplant. New fear unlocked.

Bonus trivia: They don't take out the old kidneys, they just keep on adding new ones. I have 4 kidneys right now.

[–] echodot@feddit.uk 10 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Right now? Does that mean you're planning on getting me more in the future, how many do you have to get before you gain superpowers?

[–] RunicSword@beehaw.org 8 points 6 days ago

I will probably need another transplant in about 5 years. I'll let you know if I've gained any powers then!

[–] secret300@lemmy.sdf.org 5 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Fuckin wild! What do you think the record is for most kidneys?

[–] RunicSword@beehaw.org 4 points 6 days ago

Someone on Reddit did an AMA and said he had 7 kidneys. I need to catch up!

There was also a guy who got a lung transplant, and then it turned out the new lungs had cancer.

[–] Tramort@programming.dev 25 points 1 week ago (1 children)

And the recent transplant recipient who ended up with rabies.

Nightmare fuel.

[–] Fredselfish@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago

Why we need to use stem cells and just start growing our own replacement organs. It can be done and it be great. No worries about rejects, or shit like this.

[–] jol@discuss.tchncs.de 10 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Oh God. The worms went from the kidneys to the admomen and to the lugs. 🀒 This is my biggest fear

[–] I_am_10_squirrels@beehaw.org 3 points 6 days ago (1 children)

the man's abdominal rash was caused by the worms meandering through his skin.

[–] KingJalopy@lemm.ee 5 points 6 days ago

Fuck this I'm out
