It's the ad networks fault. And it's 1337x fault for using shitty ad network. But once you get into shadier and less commonly approved business, only options you have for ads are shitty networks that have nearly no ad vetting system. Which means sometimes you get shit like this happening.

Pihole DNS blocking pretty much solves that, I never thought 1337x was shit because I don't rawdog piracy

Welcome to the internet.

You just close all tabs and open the link until it actually works. That, or you use adblock

Not getting any redirects on my end.

They are not allowing copying magnet urls too.

right-click copy URL works just fine for me.

Working fine for me on Mullvad.

Are you using uBlock origin?

These websites use clickstealing malware ads. Use Ublock origin.

But are you using uBlock origin? Try it on mobile

[–] admin@lemmy.today 2 points 21 hours ago (1 children)

I am using a stock tor browser from playstore.

[–] swizzlestick@lemmy.zip 8 points 20 hours ago (2 children)

Confirmed issue, just gave it a test.

Adding the uBlock Origin extension to Tor Browser will resolve it and make the links proper again.

It's working fine here. Are you sure you didn't get a fake version of the site?

It is the correct URL, but 1337x is filled with ads. It is recommended to use an ad blocker or something like Jackett, or you can use Startpage's 'Visit in Anonymous View' feature.

There is a trick! You first need to left click the magnet link, this will bring a modal vpn ad with (iirc) a "continue without vpn" button. That button is the actual magnet link

[–] dysprosium@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

Lol I was wondering whether there was an actual intended way through. It still deters new users way too much though. What are they thinking

[–] Zos_Kia@lemmynsfw.com 1 points 10 hours ago

Yeah it's pretty shit. My guess is torrent sites lost a ton of traffic from API users (stremio, kodi etc...) so they have to squeeze harder on those remaining page views.
