Dunking on Tankies from a leftist, anti-capitalist perspective.

Rules:

  1. No bigotry of any kind.
  2. No tankies or right-wingers. Liberals are allowed so long as they are aware of this
  3. No genocide denial

We allow posts about tankie behavior even off fedi, shitposts, and rational, leftist discussion.

Curious about non-tankie leftism? If you've got a little patience for 19th century academic style, let a little Marx and Kropotkin be your primer!

Marx's Communist Manifesto, short and accessible! Highly recommended if you haven't read it

Yes, Oct. 7 was a war crime. Does anyone disagree?!

This is moral superiority complex, plain and simple. Similar to the bullies who recently drove Save A Fox lady to suicide.

These fuckers don't do anything to make the world a better place and criticise those who try for not being perfect.

I think anyone who says that the democrats wouldn't have supported Isreal starting WW3 is just ignorant of our political landscape.

I would love it if the Mayor of NYC could somehow stop our country from funding and being allied with Isreal, but he ain't gonna do shit but speak.

How many days until this because a commonly seen position on Lemmy, do you think?

In any case, a major congratulations and good luck to Zohran Mamdani, the democratic socialist who won the Dem Party primaries for NYC mayor!

As soon as a progressive wins a seat, if they don't fix 100% of problems within 30 seconds, they're part of The Establishment and are dead to the movement.

Let's see if the Democrstic Party holds to their unofficial stance that this race is effectively a referendum on the party's future.

Let’s see if the Democrstic Party holds to their unofficial stance that this race is effectively a referendum on the party’s future.

I wouldn't count on it. Party elites are notoriously resistant to any kind of positive change. The only way we can change the Dem Party is by forcing it to change - by ensuring progressive candidates like Mr. Mamdani continue to win going forward.

Hopefully, the strained democracy of the US will hold up long enough for that to matter.

Yeah we as a society need to start treating primaries with respect and actually showing up to vote for those.

Yeah. Also he's the democratic candidate for mayor, the election of mayor is not until November 4, so he has 2 months to solve all of NYC's poverty issues, before he could even possibly be in the mayor's seat.

Plenty of time for a real progressive to do their work, right?

I would say it won’t but the problem is the last time the New York Dems undercut the progressive victory like that it was when the Republicans were willing to concede.

For the Democratic elite to try that again they would need Trump willing to endorse Cuomo over Eric Adams and the Republican Party Candidate. Something Trump is probably not going to do unless New York Democrats agree to concede to his demands, and good luck selling that to the voters
