June 29th, 2025: A Toast to the Lather Games

  • Brush: Omega - Bambino Boar
  • Razor: Chiseled Face - Legacy Ti
  • Blade: Gillette Silver Blue
  • Lather: Catie's Bubbles - Sunday Brunch - Soap
  • Post Shave: Catie's Bubbles - 322 - Aftershave
  • Fragrance: Catie's Bubbles - Crangère - EdP

Daily Theme Justification: Sunday brunch is inspired by a Mimosa, a drink combination of orange juice and champagne.

Daily Theme: Sunday Brunch is one of those scents that is probably considered to be a gourmand, but a gourmand I can actually like. There's no cake, candy, or other desserts that I typically associate with gourmands. Nothing to report other than this is a really great scent and soap. 322 as a relevant post shave because I am under the impression that the black currant is supposed to represent a very faint wine note. Sunday Brunch = booze, and 322 = booze (sort of). Edit: keep forgetting the damn smush providers, thank you u/brokenjaw622 for the smushes and opening me up to the u/C_Bubbles rabbit hole.

Daily Challenge: I have to be 100 emoji with you all. I have been very poor about keeping up with posts. For overall LG winner there are a few contenders that I could see any of them winning. Those are u/bmac92 u/hugbckt u/tsrblke in no particular order. For ROTY, I would think some contenders would be u/snoo-ting u/Lathered_Yeti u/josiguuh u/Low_Key1782 in no particular order. I was a rookie last year and it is fun to see and read what the first timers come up. I particularly liked u/snoo-ting posts because they are short and sweet and I always enjoyed reading his self care write ups. Some of them were simple reminders to myself that taking care of ourselves is a lot more simple than we think

My favorite post of all was u/bmac92 and his car wash shave. I was up ridicously late that night for WCW and watching himself blast his face with a foam cannon made me laugh my ass, but also slightly concerned for his well being. I really loved u/Priusaurus shitposting all month too despite not being a djudge. I felt like this LG had much less shenanigans then last year, but a lot more people brought consistently good write ups that made for really good content.

June 29th, 2025: G&T

  • Brush: Maggard Razors - 2 Band 24mm Badger
  • Razor: Chiseled Face Legacy Raw Titanium - (#69)
  • Blade: Personna P74 (93)
  • Lather: Stirling Soap Co. - Gin & Tonic - Soap
  • Post Shave: Noble Otter - Hamami - Aftershave
  • Fragrance: Noble Otter - Hamami - EdP

Theme justification: Gin & Tonic is a type of adult beverage, best served over ice with squeezed slice of lime.

I got a bit too much sun today, so decided to keep it to a 2 pass shave. Also, this blade (and razor) has been giving me shaves that are way too close and comfortable, so 2 shaves should help ensure there are some longer whiskers to shave tomorrow.

Hamami (Now called Hamam) goes great with Gin & Tonic, but aside from that the post shave and frag aren't relevant.

A Toast to the Lather Games: Day 29 of Lather Games

  • Brush: Declaration Grooming Washington Blood of Kings B3
  • Razor: Thiers Issard Le Dandy (5/8", square point, carbon steel)
  • Lather: Noble Otter – Thé Noir et Vanille
  • Post Shave: Wholly Kaw & House of Mammoth – Iced Tea

Theme justification: Thé Noir is black tea, and I stayed with the tea theme.

June 29, 2025

  • Brush: Chisel & Hound Classic 26mm V23 Fanchurian
  • Razor: Geneva Cutlery Co. 6/8" Hollow Ground Round Point
  • Lather: The Cajun Blade - Cuba Libre - Soap
  • Post Shave: The Cajun Blade - Cuba Libre Aftersauce - Aftershave
  • Post Shave: Thayers - Coconut - Toner

2 passes. Face lather. Excellent shave.

I'm toasting the Lather Games on its penultimate day with a Cuba Libre; a new soap (released early this month) from The Cajun Blade. The soap captures the essence of the Cuba Libre drink pretty well I think. The cola, rum, and lime are blended well, but the notes are noticeable. The "Aftersauce" provides more of the lime note and has a bit of menthol, providing the sensation of a drink over ice.

Theme: Smash is inspired by the bourbon smash cocktail. El Cantinero is inspired by the Paloma cocktail (a personal favorite of mine).

Challenge: Too much to call out here!

LG Champ: It's a toss-up between u/hugbckt and u/tsrblke. Hug went above and beyond for many of his posts (though I'm still a little salty about the rickroll). I loved how tsr involved his kids this year, and the shaves at WDW were super impressive. The adventure of hugppt was just wonderful to read, bravo!

Honorable mention goes to both u/bmac92 and u/BossHoggins10. Great work from both of you this year.

ROTY: Stiff competition this year. I suspect it's either u/josiguuh or u/lathered_yeti, though u/coco_for_cocoapuffs also had an impressive run. I may still be in the running, but I won't be disappointed if any of these fine folks take the win.

FOF: I think this goes either to u/hugbckt or u/chronnoisseur420. Both consistently articulated clear connections between their fragrance choices and had an impressive level of variety throughout.

SCSQ: I have no clue on this one. It might be u/josiguuh again, though I was impressed by many of the participants. Either way, kudos to u/pridetwo for encouraging us all to remember the importance of self-care.

I also have to shout out u/brokenjaw622 for his MaL run and u/socialkittielynx for her vegan run. Both were very impressive! Though u/brokenjaw622 definitely had some sus explanations imo. ;)

Overall, I had a great month (though I'm glad that it's ending). The banter, shenanigans, and general camaraderie made a personally difficult month much more enjoyable.

$SELFCARE - I spent a lazy afternoon playing chess with my brother-in-law while my niece and nephew napped. It was great to play some in-person chess, and just lovely to spend time hanging out with family.

$FOF - Smash into El Cantinero was an obvious combination for today. The brght peach and musky bourbon from Smash blended really nicely with the bright grapefruit and lime in El Cantinero. Ramblin' Man offers a delightful blend of lemon, mandarin orange, berries, and bergamot, supported by a beautiful woodiness in the drydown that complements the combination nicely. Bonus points: it's probably my wife's favorite fragrance.
