CNN data guru Harry Enten broke down the latest polling in the Democratic Party on views toward Israel and the Palestinians on Wednesday and marveled at the massive shift in attitudes, declaring he’s “rarely” seen anything like it in his many years of looking at polling data.

Enten spoke to anchor Kate Bolduan in the context of Zohran Mamdani’s sweeping victory over ex-Gov. Andrew Cuomo in New York City’s Democratic Party mayoral primary last week.

"What are we talking about here? All right, who do Democrats sympathize more with: Israelis or Palestinians? In 2017, the Democratic Party was a pro-Israeli party. Look at this. They sympathized with the Israelis by 13 points—more with the Israelis than the Palestinians. But look at this sea change. Now, Democrats sympathize more with the Palestinians by 43 points.Oh my God! That is a change in the margin of 56 points over the course of just eight years. So all of a sudden, it’s the pro-Palestinian position that actually reigns supreme in Democratic politics, not the Israeli position. And that is part of the reason why Mamdani was able to do so well in this primary, because those attacks over Israel, simply put, did not ring true for Democrats"

Yes, committing active and rapid genocide out in the open will do that

I doubt Israel and Palestine had that much of an effect on the New York city mayoral race. Just because this guy is Muslim they are making all these crazy assumptions. Frankly it seems a little racist at this point and super embarrassing to watch

Asking someone running for mayor about international politics seems like a real "sir, this is a Wendy's" moment.

Agreed. I think Mamdani won the primary on more of a "he is not a sex pest" vibe than his views on international politics.

At least that's the impression I got based on my wife's conversations with her friends.

I voted for him too, but more because he seems like he actually wants to try to make people's lives better. I don't think he will be able to accomplish most of what he is promising, but I do think he is going to at least /try/ to improve things.

I have nothing to do with NY and with any luck I never will. But kudos to you looking out for yourselves and not electing absolute monsters. US politics are so.obvious to people outside, you guys are as sheltered as north korea.

Everyone in NYC has an opinion about the Middle East, but Mamdani got elected because he said he will only work for the 5 boros. His focus is correctly on NYC, and that’s what he campaigned on. At the end of the day that conflict is half a world away; and we’ve got shit here we have for fix.

Don't have to fix it, just not actively support it

“Andrew Cuomo, during the primary, attacked Mamdani as being insufficiently pro-Israel.

The most expensive primaries in US history were in 2024 where zionist supremacists/AIPAC funded DNC opponents to those insufficiently submissive to zionist first rule over America. The only successful attack campaigns were those that never mentioned Israel supremacy as an issue. Only other issues.

The Green party can win with 0 money by saying all Israel first loyalty oaths by politicians invalidate their citizenship and right to office. The DNC simply doesn't want to win. Like Chuck Schumer admission, the DNC exists to gaslight the left into being pro Israel. Fundraising is always nice, but winning is not the most pro Israel result.

Genocide will do that
