I didn't spend much time trying to get decent shots because my glasses were already smeared with sweat by the point I found these

So this is what Barefoot’s been looking for!

I originally read this as

I didn't spend much time trying to get decent shoes

And was thinking does OP go out into the woods looking for nice shoes? Because that would be a weird hobby. As I assume you know where to find nice shoes and it’s not in the woods usually. Then these were all you found and you’re like “eh fuck it. I’ll take the picture anyway.”

Oof, that sounds terrible. At least you got a shot of these rare shoes, there's something beautiful about things being left here and there, mostly unintentionally, and having nature devour them.

Lol, it's normally not a problem, but I was constantly having to duck under massive spiderwebs

I totally agree! Bonus pic from the same location:

Is that some kind of bag? What a poor soul, no shoes, and no bag 😩. We may never know what happened.

A suitcase! Someone was living out there- at least 100 beer cans, 3 broken lawn chairs, a couple empty propane tanks, old tarps, etc. There was even some old cassette tapes (only readable one was smashing pumpkins), and a spice rack full of decrepit spice jars

It seems that you have stumbled upon a person's beer empire, you'd do well to watch yourself in its premises.

Was this in the Grand Tetons? Did you find the stash of the foxy shoe bandit?

Loll, no these were a little less than a quarter mile into the woods off the side of the interstate in north Florida

Super eebie jeebie blursed fleshlight/sock puppet vibes on that first pic.

Ah shoe of the woods is an uncommon but sought after fungus, many say after cooking it in a fried or roast kind of scenario that they find it remarkably indistinguishable from taking a bite of the thickest, best cooked shoe of your life

My reaction to these images:

Someone left shoe!

Riiiiiight.

You'll often find it on rulers, yard sticks, and measuring tape 👍
