Do that with some specific politicians.

[–] OddMinus1@sh.itjust.works 11 points 14 hours ago

It feels like a good amount of effort. I appreciate that.

Some Indian scammer sent me a picture like this with no context and I was so confused, but I guess now it makes sense. Also it wasn't my house, I don't know where it was, but it was definitely not where I lived so I'm not sure what that was supposed to achieve.

[–] outhouseperilous@lemmy.dbzer0.com 17 points 15 hours ago

It's the thought that counts.

[–] finitebanjo@lemmy.world 12 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

If a bro cyberbullying you pulls up a picture of your home address in any context, that IS personal.

[–] Agent641@lemmy.world 5 points 15 hours ago

Just send back a picture of his mum

[–] thefluffiest@feddit.nl 73 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Well it’s a Boeing so not too surprising

It's fine, they are meant to bounce,

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 3 points 18 hours ago

remember the boeing shuttlecraft was haunted by mysterious noises.

[–] answersplease77@lemmy.world 3 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

did the pilot eject? not sure how that works in commercial airplanes

[–] DreamlandLividity@lemmy.world 12 points 14 hours ago* (last edited 14 hours ago)

You can't eject from commercial jetliners. You can't even jump out of most of them.

There used to be some that had a backwards facing door with stairs you could jump out of. Famously, D. B. Cooper did that. But afterwards, most of these doors were secured so that they could not open during flight to prevent future hijackers from doing what D. B. Cooper did.

Crashing would be more fun in MSFS if it had destructible environments and soft body physics.

Or at the very least comically broke into a million pieces like they used to in the old games. (I think I'm specifically thinking of 2000, but I don't remember for sure. When I try to look up MS Flight Sim 2000 crash, all I get is troubleshooting guides)

[–] JustARegularNerd@lemmy.dbzer0.com 8 points 22 hours ago (1 children)

MSFM 2000 was the one (and only one) that I've played, and unfortunately no, it just pauses the game right on impact.

[–] dalekcaan@feddit.nl 4 points 22 hours ago

Hm, maybe it was 98? I forget which version I had as a kid, but it was one that had a flat image as the cockpit, definitely pre MSFS X.

The only one I ever played with any kind of destruction was Microsoft Combat Flight Simulator.

[–] kn33@lemmy.world 2 points 18 hours ago

They should make another one of those

[–] PhobosAnomaly@feddit.uk 11 points 1 day ago (3 children)

Like Wreckfest, but with wings and maps.

Sounds like a laugh.

Like Wreckfest, but with wings and maps

Sounds like my bachelor party

BeamNG.drive

[–] echodot@feddit.uk 0 points 17 hours ago

That game exists, it's called Nuclear Option.

It doesn't use real world maps which is a shame, but I can see why they don't because you can literally nuke cities in it.

[–] tanisnikana@lemmy.world 67 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I once parked a Cessna in my parents’ cramped driveway and sent them the pic. Felt good.

[–] flambonkscious@sh.itjust.works 4 points 17 hours ago

That's great

[–] orca@orcas.enjoying.yachts 29 points 1 day ago (2 children)

I haven’t played a Microsoft Flight Simulator game in a really long time, so excuse me if this is a dumb question. Does the game use actual map data? Does it have entire countries?! That’s kind of wild and makes me want to check the new one out on GamePass.

I also want to crash into my own house.

[–] goldfndr@lemmy.ml 6 points 17 hours ago (1 children)
[–] MonkderVierte@lemmy.zip 2 points 6 hours ago

Do they contribute? If they make money with the data, they should.

[–] Michal@programming.dev 38 points 1 day ago (2 children)

FS2020 does. It uses bing maps satellite imagery, interprets the map and procrdurally generates buildings. It's impressive, but up close the buildings look generic and rarely accurate. Google Earth looks better.

However they do have hand made maps of big cities, these are very realistic.

People can use StreetComplete and other software to enhance existing data (e.g. building heights/floors) and overall improve the underlying OpenStreetMap data that it (in part) uses.

[–] echodot@feddit.uk 2 points 17 hours ago

My hometown which is tiny is accurately represented in Microsoft flight simulator, I have no idea who took the effort to do that.

The only reason I can think of is that due to some stupid local political reasons it has a major train station despite being a small town, so perhaps they just modelled everything with extensive public infrastructure.

[–] Etterra@discuss.online 4 points 17 hours ago

Jokes on you, I moved last year. You just murdered a family of five.

[–] Matriks404@lemmy.world 11 points 22 hours ago (1 children)

I wonder what's the psychological reason we fly planes into our houses in flight sim.

[–] Revan343@lemmy.ca 3 points 17 hours ago

Same reason homing pigeons fly home

[–] nevemsenki@lemmy.world 22 points 1 day ago

Amateurs, I doubt there's a place I haven't crashed into yet

[–] Ghyste@sh.itjust.works 2 points 17 hours ago
[–] Fortatech@gregtech.eu 10 points 1 day ago

Flight Gear flight simulator way better :)

[–] Anissem@lemmy.ml 6 points 23 hours ago

For me it was always crashing into my own house in MS Flight Sim

[–] StarvingMartist@sh.itjust.works 2 points 18 hours ago

I thought they nerfed crashes entirely with the new flight sim

[–] SuzyQ@sh.itjust.works 7 points 1 day ago

The key is to send it too then when they're not at home.

[–] PugJesus@lemmy.world 8 points 1 day ago (2 children)

More concerning is that they know my address.

[–] FlihpFlorp@piefed.zip 15 points 1 day ago

Yeah but you already knew your address so not really that impressive

[–] Psythik@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

That's what makes it so brilliant.

[–] slazer2au@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

New? I was doing that in the early 2000s
