Clitheroe is good for one thing: a summer walk by the river when the sun's out.

For anything else, avoid like a plague village.

Man I love a good summer's walk.

Avoid like a plague village? Is it boring there?

Depressed (economically and socially) northern town.

That should explain everything.

Source: am a northerner.

When you're bored of Clit heroe, travel down to Penis tone!

There's a place in Virginia, US, called Intercourse ๐Ÿ˜‚

I wanted to go to this, but I could not find it.

Me neither, I think it's there somewhere.

Have either of you thought to ask for direction?

Clit hero

Knowing the UK it's probably pronounced "Iverno" or some nonsense

[โ€“] 9point6@lemmy.world 9 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Clith-uhrow

First syllable rhyming with "with"

Final two like if you said "arrow" but starting with the u in "gun"

That puts the emphasis on the rr in arrow instead of the w. I'd say it sounds like wither but with a cl, then a standard oh.

Ah I see what you mean, I guess mine leaves it a bit of ambiguity actually

[โ€“] Dis32@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

I knew that's how you pronounced it, but not how it's spelled ๐Ÿ˜‚

We named British towns over the centuries with the purpose of providing test data for the Scunthorpe problem when computers were finally invented

Wanna go to Bell End with me?

[โ€“] Flax_vert@feddit.uk 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I had a friend who used to live there

[โ€“] Dis32@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

Small place I reckon
