I have such mixed feelings about that show. Like, it’s kind of the definition of “didn’t age well.”

It makes fun of every single demographic that you could be sued for making fun of (in the USA, I don’t know how they do things in Britain).

On a rewatch, I was surprised I didn’t notice the black face before as problematic, but the only one that made me cringe and feel bad for laughing at before was the trans woman bit.

I’m sure I should just feel like a bad person for ever having enjoyed it, but it really was a very funny show.

My favorite is the gay guy who has convinced himself he’s “the only gay in the village” and he’s not really single because he’s just very shy. While the old ladies in the pub casually mention their lesbian adventures as they try to set him up with the other, obviously gay folks there.

”Computer says no” was a pretty good bit too. It doesn’t even target any protected demographics, except slightly rude and incompetent office ladies.

I'm not really gathering the concept--what should I research to best gain context here?

There is a catchphrase people use sometimes, this is a Wikipedia article about its origins.
