Kudos to the photographer. That pic is dystopian AF.

I'm sure the photographer would point out they literally just photographed reality. It's reality that's dystopian
If there's anyone in your life that still doesn't get that Donald Trump is a fascist, then they are a cultist and a photo won't have any effect.
This is early 1930s Germany. They're lost. They're gone. They're going to have to be beaten into submission like every other fascist movement ever.
We had a chance to go down another path. We passed on that opportunity.
People who don't mainline political news genuinely don't get this.
It's literally Big Brother. This is a surveillance state telling you how to do everything.
Those people have also not read 1984 and either won't get the reference or think it's a reality show reference
ny first thought was Mussolini
Mussolini, Mussolini on the wall, who’s trains run the most on time of all?
Again, is anyone here, on Lemmy, surprised by this shit?
Yes, America lives under democracy, however, did you ever stop to consider that business operates under authoritarianism? So we take someone who is aggressively capitalistic, has run and owned several businesses, even had a TV show that's known for the phrase "you're fired", and put them in charge. Then we're surprised when this person who has basically been head of several authoritarian businesses, starts acting like an authoritarian regime?
I don't think so Tim.
None of this is surprising to me in the least.
And people voted for this.
That looks like FREEDOM to Me!
-Someone who Lives in a State where you CANT paint Sidewalks and CANT speak after 10PM and CANT read Books with Rainbows in them!
He was forced to do that otherwise his friends Kim and Vlad wouldn't stop to make fun of him. They already ridiculed him in the group chat for the low energy military parade for his birthday
But this is still small. Even smaller than the flag! (Which is hung flipped, on the wrong side?)
They are still laughing because look how small he looks compared to the Vlad one! Did he wanted to save money? Cheapskate!
Now he has to put his photo in every classroom and replace the Lincoln statue
It is becoming apparent that despite all the wailing and gnashing of teeth, everyone is actually ok with all his shit
Maga hats probably look at that and feel good. Their in-group is strong and winning. That's all that matters to them.
This is literally Palazzo Braschi in 1930s Italy.
Can we skip ahead to the part with the gas station?
"Holy small dick energy, Batman. That man must feel a huge need to compensate for something."
"He may have a small penis Robin, but he is also a fascist, a pedophile, a traitor and an incredible piece of entitled shit. We must never forget that."
Holy doll hands, Batman!
this really isn't going to be the thing that convinces them. ya'll need to realize that the cult LIKES this
I have not the first doubt in my mind that somebody has jacked off to the idea of how upset somebody else's about this.
The comparatively small font on, "American Workers," really makes it seem like it's saying, "Trump First." ...which I'm sure is an accident.
This is so over the top. Has anybody considered that it could be an act to distract from something even more sinister?
What's more sinister than being a fascist in the middle of the takeover of a country?
It's so strange that he clearly has body image issues, what with the orange make-up, extreme comb-over, and lies about his weight and height, yet he seems to have no issues with 20-foot photos of himself up on buildings looking like someone toilet papered an alcoholic's 4-day-old paper bag.
Or he has no body image issues at all, and genuinely believes he's attractive, looking like a sickly prehistoric mosquito peering out from the inside of a lump of amber. Maybe he really believes he's that tall, that thin, and that intelligent. Which just raises further questions about his psychology. Is that just typical narcissistic sociopathic shit?
If this was a screenshot from a game with a fictional president, people would call it "very on the nose". Maybe someone with photoshop skills can make that edit, to ask Trump supporters what that president reminds them, then switch in the original with Trump (of course many will think the original is the fake).
This photo would have more of an effect if there was a credible source for it. I can't even read the banner to Google it. I had to reverse image search.

This trend of screenshots rather than links degrades discourse.
It says "American Workers First".
The picture comes from the WSJ article linked to in the Mastodon post. https://archive.is/QDS8P
For me the first page of a Google search does not link to stories with this image with the military standing in front. Except for one link to the Boston Globe which displays for a second before paywall blocking.
That is why the general netiquette is to share the link in the first place.
"trump banner dc"
You'll find it to be a very effective search engine query.
So these flags were made in the USA right? Trump does support manufacturing in the USA, right ?? Or is the truth like his MAGA hats these flags also made in China 🙄
Time to up how much of a fucking asshole I already am to magats for subjecting me to this fucking bullshit
cartoonishly evil
Fash gonna fash.
Bet they burn real nice
How much would we have to crowdsource for somebody to risk draping a Baby Vance version over this banner?
