Late summer early fall is officially here. I come across these guys every year with the dog. Some made it into a stew I had going and were a great addition.

Your dog looks like they're about to poop. It disturbs me.

It's Hallimasch in German btw. My dad was always on about them because they're so ubiquitous and not everybody knows they're edible, or so he claimed.

Thankfully he is just being a ding dong standing on uneven ground, keeping watch for squirrels. Your dad is right about ubiquitous as I just walked the woods again and they popped up everywhere.
