I've been digging Voyager after paying money to sync for their never updated app

Now that it has piefed support (basic so far), it's even better. I love the similarities to Apollo.

Yeah using Piefed with Voyager, it’s awesome.

I have both. Voyager just works so much better but i LOVE the barebines minimalism of Sync, and i haven't been able to figure out how to browse other instances on Voyager. I know i should switch but i just can't.

I've been using Voyager since I gave up on Sync.

It's okay but I wish I could go back to Sync, there were little quality of life things that just made it so easy. Plus more customization.

I hung on to sync for probably too long (hoping for a return of the dev) then switched to Summit. It's pretty good.

Same here, Summit is the most sync like app I've found

I know Liftoff and Memmy have some dedicated fans.

I've never even heard of memmy

It wasn’t patched for 2 years, it’s strange because they reworked the app before halting the development.

They had a pretty active discord server for a while to discuss development but they got a lot of feature requests and people were bugging them a lot and I think they got a bit burnt out so they ended up getting someone from the server to act as security and filter out good vs bad requests, but the guy went on a massive power trip and was just a total asshole to everyone thinking he was better than everyone and the channel went completely dead within days. Shortly after they halted development.

I feel bad because the main developer was a really nice guy but he definitely over-worked himself. When he wasn’t at his day job he was spending every waking minute working on the app, all hours of the night. For a couple months straight he basically had zero sleep. He did almost all the work for the app. At the time it was definitely the most advanced feature-wise and also looked the nicest, but the guy took a short break and then Voyager came along and I think that was the nail in the coffin. He came back for a bit, then all the drama I mentioned happened and now nothing.

Did something major change? Connect for Android hasn't been updated since May, but it's still working great.

[–] WoodScientist@lemmy.world 7 points 2 weeks ago

I just use the browser, even on mobile. >:D
