I hate the term "Pro-Life", as it is not accurate. They are "Anti-Choice", plain and simple.

[–] magpie@mander.xyz 53 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

This is also just anti-choice across the board because she was coerced.

[–] Townlately@feddit.nl 25 points 2 weeks ago

Well it's criminal because she was coerced

[–] 200ok@lemmy.world 8 points 2 weeks ago

his choice, which is apparently all that matters

[–] FireRetardant@lemmy.world 33 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

If they were truly pro-life they would be pro school lunches, pro maternity leave, and other supports for the actual life of the child, but most of them aren't because thats too socialist. Pro life up until it pops out then they don't give a shit about the actual quality of life the baby receives.

[–] Bubbaonthebeach@lemmy.ca 14 points 2 weeks ago

They are quite anti-life when it comes to the mother. Perfectly fine if she dies in pregnancy or childbirth. It's even fine if her death results in the fetus' death.

[–] Capricorn_Geriatric@lemmy.world 5 points 2 weeks ago

They're 'Pro-Misery'. As long as it's not them.

[–] molestme247@lemmy.world 7 points 2 weeks ago

I've unbelievably never heard or thought to refer to it like this, my new choice of words for it

[–] Sunshine@piefed.ca 7 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

They love the death penalty, ignore science and rally against vegans.

[–] aeternum@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

I am trans, autie AND vegan. I don't stand a chance D:

"Off with her head!"

[–] Wizard_Pope@lemmy.world 5 points 2 weeks ago

They are not pro-life, they are in fact pro-birth by any means necessary.

[–] Capricorn_Geriatric@lemmy.world 4 points 2 weeks ago

They're Anti-Life, in fact.

They'd rather see mother and unborn child die than just the mother if the child isn't viable.

They all love themselves some 'judicial' murders. Because 'an eye for an eye' is all they understand.

[–] roofuskit@lemmy.world 116 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

This is pretty common. There should be a website with a list of anti-choice politicians who are pro choice in private.

[–] SnotFlickerman@lemmy.blahaj.zone 73 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (2 children)

You may as well just list all of them. Every conservative is basically a "rules for thee, not for me" jagoff. The second it's about comeuppance for their own behavior they think they deserve a break and forgiveness instead of punishment. They all think they're special snowflakes whose circumstances are different than everyone else's. Which is part of why it's hilariously on point that they project that part of themselves onto the left.

I mean just look at how this jagoff treated his killing of an innocent.

[–] Capricorn_Geriatric@lemmy.world 5 points 2 weeks ago

Perhaps not merely a list of names, but also profiles of 'what they stand for' and 'how they act on it'.

[–] FireRetardant@lemmy.world 16 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

You have them mistaken. Pro-life is just code for "the man gets the choice".

[–] Cethin@lemmy.zip 5 points 2 weeks ago

Even that's better than their position. It's The Man (as in government) that gets to choose, unless they're wealthy. Poor men or women can't choose.

[–] unconsequential@slrpnk.net 39 points 2 weeks ago

A tale as old as time

[–] AcidiclyBasicGlitch@sh.itjust.works 38 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

Remember that guy from Trump's first administration that looked like he'd been copied and pasted from a late 90s video game?

Not him

This one:

He brought his pregnant girlfriend a smoothie with a ~~Plan B~~ abortion pill? crushed up inside of it to force her to abort without her knowledge.

Then he tried to sue for libel when the story was published, but a judge ordered that he had no basis and made him pay the other party's legal fees instead.

Trumpworld’s Jason Miller Must Pay Gizmodo Thousands for Accurately Reporting Insane Story About Him

So prolife he had to pretend to be doing something thoughtful for her and the baby when he straight up poisoned his girlfriend without her consent.

[–] Insolentjellyfish@lemmy.world 27 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

PSA for anyone who needs to hear it: taking Plan B as directed does not cause miscarriages. If a fertilized embryo has already implanted into the uterine lining and started to grow, Plan B has missed its window of effectiveness. That's why the directions indicate you need to take it as soon as possible and no more than 72 hours after intercourse. Cheers.

[–] AcidiclyBasicGlitch@sh.itjust.works 10 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

My bad article just says abortion pill. Not sure what drug it is

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 2 weeks ago

Probably mifepristone

[–] Mastershelf@lemmy.zip 35 points 2 weeks ago
[–] psycho_driver@lemmy.world 33 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

You'd probably have a harder time finding a GOP politician that hasn't done this than has.

[–] Revan343@lemmy.ca 18 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Naw there's lots of secretly gay ones to pick from

[–] djsaskdja@reddthat.com 8 points 2 weeks ago

I for one can’t wait for the first gay autistic trans republican abortion out of wedlock.

[–] tatann@lemmy.world 14 points 2 weeks ago
[–] Bubbaonthebeach@lemmy.ca 10 points 2 weeks ago

Ask any doctor that has provided abortions and they will tell you that the loudmouths against always have representatives that show up wanting their "necessary" abortion. Whether it for their mistress, daughter, wife who can't take another child or whatever. It's the same as they are for most things, ok for me but not for thee.

[–] rustydrd@sh.itjust.works 9 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

The hypocrisy is obvious, but coercing someone to have an abortion is not Pro-Choice.

[–] sp3ctr4l@lemmy.dbzer0.com 7 points 2 weeks ago

"But, my abortion is different!"

[–] BigMacHole@sopuli.xyz 4 points 2 weeks ago

Abortion is MURDER and ANYONE who Kills a Baby is going to HELL! Sometimes! Sometimes it's NOT Murder! Like on Tuesdays or after eating PIZZA!

[–] SpiceDealer@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Larry Craig: Am I a joke to you?

[–] SoleInvictus@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 2 weeks ago

That's why he changed to fucking men in airport bathrooms. He didn't have to worry about getting them pregnant.

[–] Corelli_III@midwest.social 2 points 2 weeks ago

do americans point out hypocrisy for points or something

politicians just do whatever until you grind them into paste, its why you shouldn't have politicians and you should invest in paste

[–] melsaskca@lemmy.ca 1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

That headline is ripping off Tom Waits. ("She's femme in the sheets but she's butch in the streets").

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I would be surprised (though I guess not all that surprised) if it was Tom Waits who coined the "X in streets, Y in the sheets" saying.

[–] melsaskca@lemmy.ca 1 points 2 weeks ago

You're probably right.
