I doubt it's a big factor. Pretty much any big event or any TV stuff is going to involve a bunch of dicking about. Hollywood is full of actresses, and lots of them have to turn up on set at 5am to get into makeup and wait around for six hours before getting told the shooting schedule has changed and they won't be needed til tomorrow.

A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. The most popular seem to be lighthearted clever little truths, hidden in daily life.

Whats it like to be a mod? Reports just show up as messages in your Lemmy inbox, and if a different mod has already addressed the report, the message goes away and you never worry about it.

Hollywood pays better than panel shows. Panel shows run thousands, sometimes tens of thousands, per episode. That includes studio, talent, equipment, and crew. Movies can run into tens or hundreds of millions.
Sure, movies pay more than panel shows, but you get lots of women working as extras, even though it really doesn't pay well and involves of lot of hassle.
But more importantly, why do you think that women are more sensitive or opposed to waiting around? Not sure it's a trait or stereotype that aligns with my experience. Guys can be plenty impatient and think they're too important to wait around like a pleb.
I think its much more likely that there's still just a big gender gap in entertainment (especially in comedy). Comedy is still a primarily male dominated field in the mainstream, so it feeds into itself. Unless shows are willing to go out of their way to find women (for example the most recent run of After Midnight), then its still just going to continue being primarily male dominated spaces.
What are panel shows?
A game show played by a panel, usually of comedians, where the game is merely a pretext for the entertainment along the way. Usually there's no prize or a token prize at the end. Very cheap TV. Perhaps the most popular panel show at the moment is QI.
As an American I think one of the best things to come out of British TV.
Depends on the show.
If Roisin Conaty is on 9 out of 10 cats does countdown I will give the episode a skip. But in Taskmaster and Big fat quiz she is good.
