General Discussion for politics in the UK.
Please don't post to both !uk_politics@feddit.uk and !unitedkingdom@feddit.uk .
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.

Posts should be related to UK-centric politics, and should be either a link to a reputable news source for news, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread. (These things should be publicly discussed)

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.

The move comes ahead of Labour’s conference

Ohhhh, OK. He's lying to pacify the left of the party, just like he did when he was running for leader.

I did think it sounded out of character.

Does the party still have a left? Thought they were all purged with Corbyn.

Lots of left members still. Not so many MPs A few hang on but yep dispite the right of the party taking every option to accuse Corbyn of wanting to deselect centrist MPs. They are the only ones to actually do so.

Why the sudden change of heart? I welcome any move to the economic and/or social left, so in theory, this is very good news - but it does raise the question of why his tongue has spent half a year so far up Donald Trump's arse, that he could taste Nigel Farage's boots.

Why?

He has limited time left as leader. And hopes to change that.

Good news?

Honestly I doubt it. His solutions are unlikely to be anything but anti immigration and involve no effort to level out current wealth inequality. He will just use Farrages anti British comments in as a war cry. But I'm guessing.

Donald Trumps arse?

Is still likely very wet.

He thinks he's a Progressive?

Someone like keir can be anything, so let's hope so.

He will be anything he thinks will get him the most votes, therefore a charlatan, and does not deserve leadership of any kind.

If he wanted progressivism he would have gone ahead and started on that over a year ago when they got into power. Going off his and his cabinet's words and actions so far he really doesn't want progressivism. I'll wait and see what happens but this just seems like he's trying to capitalise on the Your Party controversy, hoping by saying stuff like this that some of the people who went over to YP from Labour come back

Yeah, crossroads. The nazis are invading britian again, and this time they'll fuck things up 100x worse than brexit.

Oh, and they're funded by nazi billionaires across the globe. So, nonstop bots posting nazi bullshit and propaganda.
