More like we got tired of our kids swimming in per and polyfluoroalkyl substances, arsenic, mercury, cadmium, lead, chromium, benzene, toluene, xylene, ddt, glyphosate, organophosphates, atrazine, polychlorinated biphenyls, nitrates, phosphates, plastic garbage, etc

Almost like time and time again corporations have shown that if you do not explicitly force them to safely dispose of hazardous waste they will simply dump it in public waterways where it will eventually seep into the soil and even if it doesn’t it will persist for potentially thousands of years

There is currently a problem in the uk–particularly London where all the sewage us just dumped in waterways and there's literally no clean water in the country.

With the completion if the Thames tideway tunnel that opens this year there's expected to be something like a 90%+ drop off in untreated sewage entering the Thames from London.

You people still havent figured out proper sewers have you? God damn island savages dont have the good sense god gave a dog. Someone should really bring you civilization someday. Not that I'd expect it to be accepted other than at gun point.

What do you mean our water system is nearly perfect. It provides fantastic shareholder value for all sorts of investment organisations and private equity firms. It's the envy of the world over.

I feel really fortunate to live near a wastewater treatment plant. When the clean, treated water comes out it tastes like fresh spring water

i guess my point is it's a solvable problem and the output water is a lot better than you would assume. you just have to get used to the idea

It is probably the biggest public health problem, and each instance is just to save a buck at the expense of premature deaths and chronic health problems.

It will be getting a whole lot worse here the rules are gone, ignored, changed, flouted.

Idk when people started listening to crackheads

He was a heroine addict for over 10 years. I get that drug addicts can reform themselves but I don’t think they should be running our government.

Born, hired, disposed

Where that job lands, everybody knows

You can tell by the smile on the CEO

Environmental restraints are about to go

You're obviously a far left radical!

[–] F_State@midwest.social 6 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Total pinko. Red blooded Americans only swim in a patriotic mix of sewage and industrial effluent

[–] AnUnusualRelic@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

Put you asbestos swimming gear on, and jump in!

[–] Diplomjodler3@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

That's the spirit!

When they say they want smaller government this is what they mean. Less regulation

[–] F_State@midwest.social 2 points 1 week ago

And fewer people in the decision making processes. Being farther right then Democrats, they believe in a smaller, more exclusive ruling elite. Liberals believe in Rules but Right Wingers put their faith in Leadership.
