There is no question that the "threat from within" is djt himself. Only one person. Not a foreign nation or rebellion.

What djt is trying to do is much worse than burning the US flag.

The threat is far more that just Trump, though you're right that it's not a foreign threat; it's conservatives, who have always fought against everything that America claims to be about, while themselves claiming to be patriots

Hopefully the MAGAts won’t burn the judges house down. But the “violent left” is the real issue…

She didn't just hand down a second ruling, she said no to any and all NG deployment from Trump.

Trumps and his lawyers decided since the ruling said no Oregon NG, that they could send in the California NG and that would be fine ... the judge and the legal team involved worked the weekend and ruled no NG can be deployed.

[–] HubertManne@piefed.social 3 points 22 hours ago (1 children)

does this include chicago because they are in illinois physically.

[–] chiliedogg@lemmy.world 1 points 17 hours ago

Even worse, they're sending the Texas guard to Chicago because Abbot's a fellow fascist and won't fight the deployment like Newsom will.

[–] NotMyOldRedditName@lemmy.world 30 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I'll use the national guard reserves! It's got the word Reserves after it, its not the same!

He is probably going to try sending ICE in enmass.

This is really just a trial run for the 2026 elections, he wants to clamp down so he doesnt get impeached.

[–] Soup@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago

*en masse, but yea I’m waiting for when ICE goes beyond their immigration like we’re expecting. Problem really is that many of the normal police are happy to help so I don’t see why they’d need to, and that’s pretty depressing.

[–] zod000@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I read "enmass" as "enemas" and I was in full agreement.

[–] ettyblatant@lemmy.world 1 points 23 hours ago

Ooh, an icy enema? That sounds refreshing!

[–] MajorasTerribleFate@lemmy.zip 1 points 20 hours ago

Impeached is peanuts. But for the Senate to vote to convict on the impeachment charges, they need a 2/3 majority, which would certainly require some GOP yes-votes.

This is President Miller’s doing. Trump has no idea what is going on. Miller also fucked Melania. Maybe Trump is a cuck, everyone is saying it…

[–] ameancow@lemmy.world 19 points 2 days ago

Hopefully ya'll have burner accounts on right-wing media sites at this point... right?

It would be a great time to start seeding two ideas:

  1. Miller and Melania seen together - why isn't mainstream media covering this???

  2. Every time we suggest Trump hire food tasters to protect himself from poisoning by jealous haters, JD Vance's team shoots the idea down, not saying Vance is going to do anything bad, but why wouldn't they want to protect the president? Just asking questions here! (We're preparing for later, or honestly any day now.)

This judge who ruled against handing over the voting rolls had her house explode yesterday….Im sure it’s just a coincidence and not MAGA terrorism this time. /s https://www.themirror.com/news/us-news/south-carolina-judges-15m-beachfront-1429059

A spokesperson of the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division told the outlet that they are current investigating the fire.

Kittredge said SLED chief Mark Keel 'said he will stay in touch and let us know if there is any evidence of arson.'

'At this time, we do not know whether the fire was accidental or arson. Until that determination is made, Chief Keel has alerted local law enforcement to provide extra patrols and security,' he added.

The judge has allegedly been receiving death threats in the past few weeks, sources told FITSNews.

So ... the police will let the press know if there is anything to know. Ok then.

...I don't think we can litigate the Nazis off the beaches of Normandy.

The Trump regime is slowed by the courts, even if the regime is clearly not respecting the rule of law. So why give up one tool in our tool belt? We can still resist and practice non-cooperation while the courts do what they can. And plus, the more roadblocks the courts put up, the more the regime will have to do unpopular, illegal shit in order to enact their fascist plans. They won't be able to hide behind a veneer of legality.

[–] Modern_medicine_isnt@lemmy.world 21 points 2 days ago (1 children)

While certainly true, we are fighting over the same military. And that military is oath bound to refuse illegal orders. So, the more judges that declare the orders illegal or declare an injunction against them, the more members of that military that will refuse orders.

Trump is known to turn on a dime against anyone who doesn't do what he asks. Once he does that to military members refusing clearly illegal orders, more of them will refuse. So, every bit sets the stage for winning more and more of the military against the nazis.

Best case, JAG officers from a state national guard advise troops to ignore illegal orders, trump attempts to fire them, but doesn't have the authority and he turns entire states worth of national guard completely against him. Then he orders other states guard to arrest them, and their JAG advises to ignore. So he orders the military to do it. And their JAG advises to ignore. Then he has lost the entirety of the military.

I think a lot of people are buying into the image of white guy + tac vest + gun = ICE = fed = military. These things are in no way equal but it's an important part of the administration's plans for you to imagine they are.

ICE is a big bark and a little bite. These people have minimal/no training, they are literally angry thugs on a power trip. Step back and actually think about the outrageous operations and headlines you see.

They're tough guys when they outnumber you or are tackling a 70 year old nanny, but when faced with a critical mass of opposition they tuck tail and run. The only thing they have going for them is the costume and a gun.

Turns out that watching a bunch of conspiracy videos about how brown people ruin America doesn't make you a tough guy. What actually does make you tough is years of drilling, specialized training, decades of institutional knowledge, engaging in real combat, etc. So we're back to the eternal truth: the military are the true kingmakers of the state.

In terms of personal safety you still need to watch out for ICE on the streets. However, in terms of political power they're a paper tiger. They could never lock down a city or shut down an election without massive military support. Whether the military would lend that support is an open question, but certainly not without a compelling reason (beyond the POTUS decrees it)

Exactly, so winning the tug of war for the national guard is key. And court wins help do that.

At some point we need state militias to protect us from the unconstitutional actions of the federal government
