Mars continue to provide us with an ever increasing collection of stunning rocks. Here's a mosaic assembled from 11 overlapping MastCam-Z images (full zoom) featuring a small boulder that's as big as a large boulder ;)

The boulder is sitting close to the rover. The base images were acquired on sol 1644 (October 4, 2025)

The mosaic was assembled by Kevin M Gill. His full resolution mosaic can be viewed on Flickr page, but has had to be reduced a little to meet the upload requirements of Lemmy. Link to full size: https://www.flickr.com/photos/kevinmgill/54834239678/sizes/o/

The quality of the pic is amazing. How large is this rock IRL?

It's a small boulder, comparable in length to the diameter of Percy's wheels, I'd estimate - so the long dimension is roughly 50 cm. Here's one of the HazCam shots that Paul Hammond assembled, from sol 1642:

Please keep the questions coming, everyone - they're helping me put together my ~~link dump~~ reference list! (I'm not promising a FAQ any time soon, but that's the way this really should go, ultimately...)
