/c/TenForward: Your home-away-from-home for all things Star Trek!

Re-route power to the shields, emit a tachyon pulse through the deflector, and post all the nonsense you want. Within reason of course.

~ 1. No bigotry. This is a Star Trek community. Remember that diversity and coexistence are Star Trek values. Any post/comments that are racist, anti-LGBT, or generally "othering" of a group will result in removal/ban.

~ 2. Keep it civil. Disagreements will happen both on lore and preferences. That's okay! Just don't let it make you forget that the person you are talking to is also a person.

~ 3. Use spoiler tags. Use spoiler tags in comments, and NSFW checkbox for posts.
This applies to any episodes that have dropped within 3 months prior of your posting. After that it's free game.

~ 4. Keep it Trek related. This one is kind of a gimme but keep as on topic as possible.

~ 5. Keep posts to a limit. We all love Star Trek stuff but 3-4 posts in an hour is plenty enough.

~ 6. Try to not repost. Mistakes happen, we get it! But try to not repost anything from within the past 1-2 months.

~ 7. No General AI Art. Posts of simple AI art do not 'inspire jamaharon'

~ 8. No Political Upheaval. Political commentary is allowed, but please keep discussions civil. Read here for our community's expectations.

Fun will now commence.

Are we seriously trying to say a damn time cop being at such momentous events was an accident?

[–] ummthatguy@lemmy.world 13 points 1 week ago

Was watching the Trekculture ups and downs for Galaxy Quest earlier today. Seán took a moment to point out that connection.

Corrigendum: The Thermians are part of the Temporal Accords.

Makes sense, they do have (extremely limited) time manipulation technology.

Is the Omega 13 powered by Omega Molecules? One more reason research was ultimately banned

[–] dejected_warp_core@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

The thing that kills me about the Omega 13 is that both the Human and Thermian fan-bases independently came to the same conclusion as to the purpose and function of the thing. All without it being disclosed in the show. Intentional or not, it kind of paints the Thermians as no different than any other super-fan, just with a lot more resources.

Bonus fact: use it all you want, but you can never exist on a timeline where the device has been used.

Also the fact that they managed to find a way to power the entire ship with a Beryllium sphere.

Well they are in the wrong century at this point.

Maybe the thermians watched Star Trek too and used those characters for their holographic disguises.

Now just what in the hell is that doing there?

Edit: not sure you can make out the blurry captain of the Orville here getting scolded on the Enterprise

[–] teft@piefed.social 7 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

I forgot about ensign dipshit from Boston.

So that means Galaxy Quest, Star Trek, and The Orville are all in the same universe. (I also forgot about Penny being on the Orville)

[–] Taleya@aussie.zone 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Much as i llove the bit, there's simply too many trek actors in The Orville playing wildly different characters to make the same universe plausible

[–] teft@piefed.social 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Counterpoint. Here is an in universe holorecording of The Emissary playing a wildly different character:

[–] Taleya@aussie.zone 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Counter-counterpoint: why would the EMH father two children on a vorta and then have Phlox attack him.

[–] teft@piefed.social 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Holodeck programs can get rowdy?

[–] Taleya@aussie.zone 2 points 1 week ago

It's ...a very specific fetish, i'll give you that

[–] Sunsofold@lemmings.world 3 points 1 week ago

That's not just a Zuckerberg clone?
