IMO everyone should read Culture Clash by Jean Donaldson. Really sets the stage for further reading into dog training, but is also great to just demystify a lot of misconceptions people have about dog behavior in general. 100% this one.

Check out The Monks of New Skete. Dog training is literally their way of life.
Aren't those monks behind the popularization of the infamous alpha roll? Through a book they published in the 80's?
In 1978, and they recanted and strongly recommend against it. It was based off the same misconception many at the time had based off the flawed wolf study.
Sadly, that misconception still remains today in a good number of people.
Yeah, alpha bro culture aside there's even still trainers who subscribe to the whole alpha dog misconception.
