Gerrymandering would be at the top, and then healthcare, education. Pretty much anything that restores a semblance of Democracy and encourages progress in society. Oh, and fucking fusion power for the love Christ.

If we can ignore "checks and balances" for real,

Step 0: declare the US constitution mostly void, to prevent stupid hacks like "states rights" or "fed can only regulate interstate commerce" or whatever. Keep its remnants around to ensure institutional knowledge and capabilities are preserved, until a transition to better institutions is implemented. Declare all capitalist parties illegal, seizing their assets. Then move on to the plan:

  1. Immediately nationalize all rented-out residential buildings and set up social housing. Introduce a hard limit of two residential units per person. Prohibit commercial entities from owning residential properties.
  2. Immediately nationalize all healthcare and pharmaceutical organizations
  3. Immediately nationalize all organizations of national importance (high number of employees, monopolies, military-adjacent)
  4. Require all other businesses to be turned over to employees, co-op style, within a certain timeframe (this is to allow for graceful handover at least from those small business owners who cooperate). Modify tax codes accordingly
  5. Require a merit-based entry system into universities and colleges, forcing all higher education to be free. The deciding factor of which university you attend is your exam scores. Set up funding for the institutions appropriately.
  6. Everyone with over a billion dollars in assets (before the previous steps) get their property confiscated, goes to jail, and has to work at minimum wage until they repay what they have stolen from the people. Those who repent and collaborate may be released earlier under certain conditions, like a hard limit on earnings and restrictions on travel.
  7. Introduce a plan to transition away from animal agriculture, with a set timeframe to completely prohibit animal-based foods and other unnecessary animal suffering
  8. Introduce a plan to transition all densely populated areas away from car transportation, with a set timeframe to completely prohibit private vehicles in all cities
  9. Introduce a plan to transition from fossil fuel use to sustainable energy sources, with set timeframes for net-0 and complete elimination of fossil fuel use. Limit use of oil derivatives, with a plan to reduce them to minimum necessary (such as medical uses)
  10. Prohibit all organized religion. Make proselytizing a crime similar to fraud. Mandate all education be based on materialism (and therefore atheism)
  11. Allow formation of various socialist or communist parties. Require free, competitive, ranked-choice elections for all positions within parties. Require ranked-choice voting for all positions in the Senate. Require proportional representation for House elections. Introduce a plan to replace POTUS with an executive committee, with halves of the committee elected in a staggered way via proportional representation to ensure both continuous, stable leadership and adequate representation of new ideas. Introduce a plan to reform the judiciary with significantly more checks on the supreme court. Require similar election schemes for state&local legislatures and executives.
  12. Immediate pardons for persons imprisoned for anti-capitalist viewpoints or actions, drug possession or consumption (maybe some others too)
  13. Help socialist, communist or otherwise leftist movements worldwide, but especially in the Americas. Aim towards a pan-american union of socialist republics with freedom of movement, free trade, resource sharing and other collaboration
  14. Introduce a requirement for 50% of all positions within a certain level of parties and government to be filled by women. Enshrine abortion and LGBT rights into law. Introduce a long-term plan to eliminate the concept of gender from society
  15. Introduce a long-term plan for the state to wither away and transition to communism, whether it is commune-based anarchism or collectivism

If we manage to push through all these changes, I wouldn't want to be reelected for any amount of terms.

[–] _cryptagion@anarchist.nexus 3 points 6 days ago

trump said he would be a "dictator for a day"?

let's put it this way, the nazi republicans and the collaborating democrats who helped trump by voting to further his agenda are going to see me as a dictator for much, much longer than a day. a lot of those three letter agencies that only exist to enforce the police state are gonna be reeling or gone by the time they finally manage to assassinate me. it won't be like JFK, you'll know who murdered me cause I'll have been gunning for them from the start.

  1. Change the constitution:
1.1. Make the election to the House use proportional lists by state.
1.2. Move most of the competencies of the Senate to the House. Replace the current Senate with state government representation like the German Bundesrat or the European Council (but weaker).
1.3. Introduce a prime-minister office to lead the government, elected by the House. Remove most executive powers from the presidency.
1.4. Put term limits on the supreme court, and make the election happen by 2/3 majority in the house to avoid partisan crackpots.
1.5. Change budget rules to prevent shutdowns, by keeping a limited version of the previous year's budget if a new one is not approved
    1.6. Limit presidential veto
  2. Call for Elections
  3. Spend the time until the elections checking which conspiracy theories are true
  4. Resign
  1. could also be replaced with copying Germany's ~~home work~~ constitution and changing it a bit.

I flee the country taking as much money as possible with me and then spend my remaining days drowning myself in hard drugs and pussy. I die three months later with a smile on my face, having made a much wiser decision than having anything to do with that shit show.

Seize all assets of the rich that put them over 100mil in estimated wealth.

Redistribute that wealth through a UBI that perpetually redistributes all wealth over 100mil.

End citizens united, end the filibuster, end the electoral college, expand SCOTUS to include 1 ELECTED rep from each state.

Force employers to offer union access to all employees if an employee ran union isn't already available.

Codify Rowe v. Wade and Obergefell v. Hodges into federal law.

[–] KingGimpicus@sh.itjust.works 0 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Not all states deserve representation. Maybe the top 10 states in terms of academic achievement get a seat on SCOTUS. Elected SCOTUS judges is a good step though.

I've always felt we should have one judge from each court district, voted on by judges from that district. Districts already are equal population size, cover the entire country, and judges are better able to determine if someone's qualified on law matters than the general public, which is important to prevent a populist making promises they can't deliver on since these people would know the limits of judges power and responsibility

[–] hardcoreufo@lemmy.world 1 points 5 days ago

Guillotine every MAGA politician and anyone who still flies a Confederate flag.

Forced conversion therapy for anyone who voted MAGA. (It can be gay).

Enshrinement of equal rights amendments, gay marriage, abortion and right to gender affirming care in the constitution.

Yearly federal minimum wage updates and really automatic updates to anything pertaining to money based on inflation rates.

Nationwide ranked choice voting.

[–] AceFuzzLord@lemmy.zip 1 points 6 days ago

I have actually been thinking about this:

  1. For every single cent put into AI creation of anything ( model, scraper, not, etcetera ), all companies/peoples involved are required to quintuple that for AI detection and prove their funds/researchers/devs are being put towards it That, or their company/people will be blacklisted from working in the US and their services cut off from the general US public.
  2. For schools, bring back being held back, require mandatory language/tech literacy classes required for graduation, and allocating funds to better pay teachers ( potentially even making them essential government workers ) alongside upgrading schools to modernize them.
  3. Government officials in the senate and house only get 2 terms with the stipulation they aren't fossils and are paid wage of, maximum, thrice as much as the lowest minimum wage in the country. Would free up so much money for things like helping education. Same monetary restrictions would be placed on myself as president, allowing me to make the claim I'm not above the American people and that by rejecting this deal that congress and the house think they deserve more privilege than everyone else. Really plant the seeds that politicians work for the common folk.
  4. Bring back the tax on rich people. Bring it down hard and clamp down on them being able to put their assets into foreign assets to hide their wealth.
  5. All companies will be required to send mail through the post and receive return mail indicating your data can be collected. Any company that doesn't reply will be blacklisted and unable to operate in any capacity in the US. This would also include a provision to remove all currently collected data as well.

If #2 is too big for a single idea, then modernizing and making teachers essential government employees is top priority on that list. Otherwise, the list would be:

  1. AI companies providing thrice the research/dev time and cost of creating anything AI with the same consequences as above.
  2. Modernizing schools, with teachers becoming essential government employees as part of that package.
  3. Congress, house, and presidency get a maximum wage of thrice the lowest minimum wage across the country
  4. Taxing the rich and monitoring their wealth as an insurance policy for them not to bankrupt the country via capital flight.
  5. Data collection and selling requiring snail mail with the same consequences as above.

I doubt I'd get a second term. I have the strongest feeling the rich would run so many smear campaigns against me ( and hopefully get sued to oblivion because of it ) that I'd be doomed if I tried getting a second term.

Actually a really nice question, lets me think of how to make things better rather than just complain.

  1. Implement ranked choice voting across all elections. Undo all gerrymanders and make intentional gerrymander a criminal offense not protected by legislative immunity

  2. Pass immediate media/content law package, including laws limiting media ownership, limiting social media reinforcement algorithms, deep & persistent AI content watermarking and anti-disinformation rules, anti-propaganda laws, and content labeling for entertainment/opinion versus news programming.

  3. Pass public option healthcare of some type and set hard limits on our of pocket yearly healthcare expenses for private insurance at livable levels.

  4. Pass wealth and profit reform laws to set a CEO-to-lowest-paid-employee distribution ratio for all profit beyond $1m yearly net profit, and tax rates and wealth caps to discourage grotesque wealth accumulation (TBD, but let's say if you have more than $1b, most personal income will be taxed or business income redistributed to workers).

  5. Initiate global democracy reforms with all of the non-authoritarian governments and come up with global steps to counteract right-wing propaganda (primarily from Putin), revitalize democracy, and reverse the negative effects of globalization on the public to legitimately answer authoritarian populism.

Bonus:

Government reset: Publicly and immediately prosecute the law-breaking currently happening and reestablish rule of law, undo basically every action of Trump.

Reform immigration and law enforcement: cut DHS and ICE to the bone and rebuild into an immigration support system. De-militarize local and state law enforcement and retrain every single cop to actually serve and protect. Support with laws requiring mandatory reporting of police brutality or law-breaking, with criminal penalties for failing to do so.

Anti-enshittification laws: Saas business models heavily regulated, laws that limit companies' ability to data mine and exploit, laws that grant personal ownership of attention (i.e., your attention is not a public resource companies can freely mine with ads), stronger monopoly enforcement to prevent thr terminal stages of enshittified platforms, require giving users the option of staying on prior software and T&C versions.

Worker protection laws: Codify union rights into new laws and incentives for unionization, with anti-corruption package to reduce chance of capture.

Reform Congress to re-establish proportional representation. (Too much here. BMaybe go unicameral, expand house, expand Senate - all constitutional amendments but hey, why not.)

Easy-peezy.

I mean… I can appreciate the position, but I’d rather be fucking dead than be the president. That is a shitty, thankless job, and I want nothing to do with it.

This country needs a major overhaul, and I don’t want to be the public face of it that all of the crazies want to kill.
